I think there should be pretty much automatic ejections for unprotected hits on QBs after INTs. Saw one in the Texans-Chargers game that sent Schaub to the sidelines--absolutely no point but to injure a player. And all he got was a 15-yarder after the INT, and some nominal fine. Schaub has not been back.
I saw that hit too,I couldnt believe that small fine,I think if it would have been Taylor they probably would have suspended him a game

Any evidence needed for these goofy rules ruining the game check the Titans vs Giants game last year. The Giants DE (Uminoyra sp?) had VY and let go of him because he didn't want a roughing penalty. Gotta figure that aggressiveness would lead to a penalty a game but ejection? Gotta know that no Cowboys, Patriots or Colts will be ejected.

This takes away greatly from aggressive defenses because they will have to pull up worrying about hits being to hard and getting ejected. The NFL is not even recognizable anymore.
I do agree what you said about the NFL, but i think Mike Carey is one of the better referees in the game...

I agree, ejections shouldn't come at an officials discresion. Also, for the kick-offs, they could either have their linemen receiving, or they could do kickoffs with a cinderblock.

Re: MAJOR officiating change could greatly effect the Redskins

well its like laron said, he thinks if clemmens wouldn't have ducked, it would not have been helmet to helmet. i don't think he did it intentionally, especially since the coaches put a strong emphasis on hitting the numbers(not so much not to hurt the guy but not to get the penalty) however, if what he says is true and clemmens did duck i'd bet he would've still gotten ejected if the rule would have already been put in place. too much power to the refs.
