Then he comes back the following week and blitzes a mobile quarterback that can escape the blitz, 30 damn times.

Williams runs a very good defensive scheme, but it's overly dependent on exceptional talent. Yes Sean Taylor is a freak, but if Williams is truly a "fantastic" coach, the defense shouldn't fall apart because he's injured. I'm sure a lot of coordinators could put together a solid defense with freaks at every position.
I maintain that blitzing Brady in any form would have been a disaster. The score would have been even worse than it was. He's the most poised QB in the face of pressure in the entire league. He'd just sit back there and throw it over your blitzing LBs.

Face it, the Pats were just really really on that day. Nothing anybody could have done.

Perhaps, but I don't see how the game could be viewed as a success in any way, shape, or form. The middle/intermediate zone was gashed all day long, and Gregg Willaims did nothing to try to contain it. And the Patriots' execution was so perfect that they were turning four yard checkdowns into 8-10 yard plays.

And unsuccessful blitzing would have been a disaster, but the only times in recent years that I've seen Brady show some weakness has been when he's gotten smacked around a little bit. I just don't see how giving him 3-5 seconds to get rid of the ball on every single pass play was the best option.
