most rookie DEs take 1-3 before they start producing good numbers :/

mario williams was on the shorter end of that, a guy like kampman on the higher end. plus drafted DEs tend to be very hit or miss (50% or so in the 1st round) vs any other (non-QB, non-WR) position.
