Just a small correction for ya, George Preston Marshall bought the Boston Braves in 1932, a year later playing in Fenway Park, Marshall renamed them the Redskins and hired an Indian coach named Lone Star Dietz. The team was not profitable and actually was doing well going to the NFL Championship in 1936, losing to Greenbay. They were fewer than 14,000 people in each of their 7 home games playing in Boston. Marshall moved them to D.C. in 1937 brought in rookie Sammy Baugh, and the rest is history.

Thanks for the correction.

No change is coming and the only people that have a problem with the name is the liberal media.
I wish I could be as sure as you seem to be. I would not like to see the name or uniforms changed but sometimes strange or unpopular circumstances occur. It does appear that Dan Snyder has tried to be prepared in the event that he is forced to make those changes.

Have you seen Summo's tattoo? I'm sure he's in the same boat at you about the helmet and logo.

This is never going to happen due to a poll that indicated that 95% of native Americans did not have a problem with the name.

Because it's ridiculous and untrue.

Every other team is throwing out an alternate jersey and making money off of it. I think it's time the Redskins change their uniforms. Plus, another thing to think about - whenever a team changes their uniforms, for some unknown reason, the majority of the teams do better. Does anyone think it's time for a change or is it wishful thinking?
Can you say Buffalo Bills??? Chargers changed this year and went from a 1 to a 3. That is just recent examples... yes, you get the Bronco's... but you get just as many that go down too.

Okay I found a supporting article that Snyder owns the name Warriors.

F--k Political Correctness. Two of my grandparents immigrated from Ireland, you don't hear me b!tching about the Bahsten Celtics or Notre Dame Fightin' Irish. Another grandparents was born in Canada and I don't complain about Vancouver Canucks or Montreal Canadiens. I can trace roots back to Sweden but Minnesota Vikings doesn't bother me. I am 6'2" 265, but do not complain about the New York or San Francisco Giants.

I'm right there with you...I have Cherokee all over my family tree and I never took any offense...my grandmother was almost full blood and she was a Redskins fan right up until the day she died...hell, she broke the television when Clint Longley connected with Drew Pearson on Thanksgiving Day it pissed her off so bad...

The Atlanta Braves went through all this garbage when they went to the World Series in the 1990's, it was Indian against Indian during that run...one Indian group protested the name and the Florida State Seminole War chant Deion Sanders brought with him when he played there, the other Indian group loved it and even got a contract to make the foam rubber tomahawks that the fans used during the chant...the whole thing seems a little disingenuous and attention whoring to me...if they were that pissed off how come we never hear of any protests when these teams are loosing?

"F--K Political Correctness", while I willingly censor myself for fear of challenging the status quo. And any comparison you're attempting to draw between Irish immigrants, and a cililization that experienced the largest genocide in history seem somewhat ill fated. I'm not saying I'm in support of changing the team name, but let's not beat around the bush for fear of licking the tush. It is an antiquated racial slur.

Re: Will the Redskins ever get new uniforms?

I agree with the whole political correctness thing. I see that as being the only thing that could affect the look of our uniforms. Personally I think ours are the best looking in the league. (maybe I have a biased opinion but oh well) Look at the teams that have had a complete transformation of their uniforms and colors within the last 15 years or so: Patriots, Buccaneers, and the Rams. . I could maybe include the Falcons too. Anyways, back to my point. The Pats and Bucs uniforms before were absolutely horrible. Look at how cute Warren Sapp looks.

Maybe its because i'm not a Bucs fan, but I could never imagine myself wearing one of those jerseys. Surely someone got the word around how hideous they were and the changes were made, but I don't see that happening with us. If theres a skins fan here who hates our uniforms SPEAK UP!

I don't like this thread. Redskins uniforms are just right, they've won 3 superbowls with what they are wearing. No need to change.
