Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

So I saw Cloverfield last night, and it had its moments. But overall I left the movie feel pretty disappointed, and nauseous (how hard is it to hold a video camera steady?). Shaky camera has its appeal to an extent for me.

Without giving much away, my biggest problem with the movie is that there are so many hidden clues you're supposed to watch out for; even before seeing the movie with all the secret web sites attached to the movie. And that's fine for LOST, where you can DVR the show, watch it online the next day, catch the next episode the following week, and put the pieces together. For a movie, that's just too much work in my opinion.

Overall I wasn't impressed

I've heard Juno is really good. Anyone see that?

SS I agree it didn't do it for me. The problem with "scary" PG-13 movies is that too many people that go are people who have not watched "scary" R movies. So they basically don't know scary.

Some old bag in front of me during Cloverfield was going so crazy I thought she was going to drop.

Pretty hard when you're doing a lot of running. Even though it's a movie, if there was some alien thing terrorizing the city my first concern isn't gonna be, "Oh hey, lemme back pedal so I get get a steadier shot"

I haven't seen the movie yet.. I heard a lot of people got all pukey cause of the shaky camera though and that some people had to walk out of the movie cause they were getting too nauseous.

Yeah i was thinking that but the movie was the entire video. So the video camera only was on for about an hour and a half over the 7 hour period it covered. So its possible it made it through.

They say there might be a sequel from another camera in a different part of the city. I don't know what i think about that.
