The guy is 30 years old. How many more years is he going to play at the level he's play at now? 1-2 more years? No way am I giving up a any high draft picks for this guy. I prey to god we don't make this move.

TO is 34 and still playing great.

Chad is 30, there's no reason to think he can't keep this up for another 4-5 years.

I don't know if I'd put CJ on TO's level. He close though. But to me the risk outweighs the reward. It's going to take a #1 pick and a ton of cash. To me WR's can be found in the draft, kind of like how GB did it. I'd MUCH rather get some O-line help or a pass rushing DE. In the end the games are always won and lost in the trenches and the NYG proved that in the SB by whipping the Pats o-line.

I wasn't try to compare the two, just saying that it's not uncommon for WRs to play well into their mid 30s.

I'm not hot on the idea of dealing for him either.

And from what I have read, the draft is supposed to be pretty thick at WR this year.

Chad Johnson is a great talent and would upgrade the offense but at what cost. I don't think it's worth it to give up two draft picks and a hefty salary for one player. That's why the Redskins are in salary cap hell now. At some point in time, the organization has to be fiscally responsible and stop dishing out crazy contracts to free agents. Their success rate for free agents is no better than the draft. The draft is a lot less expensive. The Redskins need to concentrate on the draft and stop going after the overpriced free agents.

there aren't a lot of great wideouts in the draft, it seems. running backs are pretty good, and some good defenders and linemen, but if linas sweed is the #1 guy, its pretty bleak. He's decent and was a huge target, but he strikes me as a mike williams kind of receiver.

Accept Sweed can't stay healthy.

I would definitely want Chad Johnson to come to D.C., but I would not give up a first round pick for him. I would however entertain the idea of trading this year's and next year's 2nd round pick for him though.

Well you know Danny Boy, he'll probably dig up some sort of idea to be able to get him. Either that or he'll just throw away our picks. He's already made 1 surprise move. Why not another?

Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

Making a big splash for a player like Johnson would be a quick way to reignite a positive vibe after Gibbs' retirement and the long, drawn out coaching search.

Snyder loves him, and Johnson wants to be here because he know he will get a new contract before he ever even plays a down in Maroon and Black. (I mean Burgundy and Gold!) It will happen.

Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

WR is a tough position to prognosticate, when it comes to rookie success. CJ is a proven receiver and after seeing him in the skills challenge a few years ago, I think he's the best receiver in the league (even though the numbers may not show that). Any help for Campbell is welcome.
