Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

the bengals are on crack if they want lloyd and that may be an untenable cap hit between the release and CJ's new contract, so i'm not sure i can believe that as legit inside info.

i guess we'll see though.

Actually, I was listening to NFL Radio yesterday and they were saying that it is a $6 million cap hit for the Bengals to unload Johnson this season. However, they'll get the money back he would have made in salary, $2.8 million. Therefore, they would only be taking a $3.2 million cap hit next season, then he'd be off the books.

NOTE: I may have the $2.8 and $3.2 backwards, it could be a $2.8 cap hit with a salary of 3.2, but either way, it's not that much of a difference.

As big of a headache for the Bengals as Chad is becoming in Cincy, I think that $3 million (split the difference) is not that big of a hit.

i meant for the skins. it's 7mill to ditch lloyd and then it'll be at least 3mill for the severely backloaded CJ contract here, (1mill + SB/years of contract).

7 million dead cap to release Lloyd, but you still have to factor in the 4 mil you wont be paying him.

I think with all of the coaching problems up in the air, I dont see it happening this year. Even if we could get him, i don't think we will have enough time to focus on it.

They need to televise the meetings between Rosenhaus, Snyder and CJ.

That would be very entertaining.

Ocho Stinko is a "GREAT" team addition? Not hardly IMO. The guy is a double edged blade talented on the field, yes. Also a nut case, time bomb waiting to explode. NO THANKS

FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Johnson still making news for wrong reasons

At least he hasn't "accidentally" overdosed on painkillers.

Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

I would rather be paying someone to play then to sit on the bench. I would also rather they not get hurt easily. They already have "Who's your mama." All they need is a #2 or #3 WR. So having said that .....Geez, I don't know if this is a good deal for us or not? I mean Lloyd is one of the best WR out there and the only reason he didn't play was because he got injured. He's all better now and not a locker room problem. He always made those clutch catches also. Name another WR out there who has his speed and hands. No don't because you all know he's the best at what he does! I sure hope no Bengals come over to our site and start getting ideas about taking Lloyd from us. I hope DS does not take this deal. ; )

Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

So the options are a pain in the a$$ WR that gets paid to sit on the bench and a pain in the a$$ WR that plays and produces. If that's the choice then I'd go with CJ. I know it is not that easy. Now, I must say that all of the pain in the a$$ WR (TO, CJ) have delivered in play and numbers. Bring in Chad could be something different...hey I know we're not in the same situation, but last year many people (including Boston homer Bill Simmons) ridiculed a bit the Randy Moss trade. So who knows.

ESPN - In Hawaii, Chad Johnson cryptically reiterates ire with Bengals - NFL

Now he's making enemies of reporters too! Note the end of the article where the Skins are mentioned.

Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

Chad Johnson would be a huge plus for our team. We do not really have a ligit redzone threat from the WR position. He not only makes the team better but will provide more touches for Moss, Cooley, ARE, and will not allow teams to stack eight man fronts for the run game. If we get Johnson, Portis should average over 4.5 yards per carry. I would also add that we could use ARE in a Wes Welker type role. He is quick and has some open field moves and he could be the security blanket to Campell that Welker was for Brady all year long.

Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

He would definately be a huge plus for the team! Who do you think we would have to give up? We are already well over the cap and I am sure that if we get him, he would want an extension? It would be nice to have a QUALITY receiver over 6 foot! Although he is only 6'1.
