Well the systems aren't the same, and neither is their experience coaching in the NFL.

Otherwise, I can see the comparison

A little bit unfair. The WCO actually has a good track record in the NFL. The Chuck-n-Duck, not so much.

I maybe be unfair, maybe I 'am not as forgiving, I remember the past with a ding bat owner we have..lol And as I have said I Hope it works with Zorn he still young where he could be here for a long time, I just like knowing that we have a HC that will be here. Gibbs was great. Maybe my exspections are to high..

You wouldn't be a Redskins fan if you didn't have high expectations for this team. But, consider this to ease your mind; Joe Gibbs has put his seal of approval on Jim Zorn. To me, Jim Zorn is just like Joe Gibbs. Zorn is the type of coach who pays close attention to detail, even tempered, and is a great teacher.

In regards to the comparison of the WCO and Spurrier's offense. There is no comparison. The only comparison you can make is that both passed to set up the run. And in Spurrier's offense, the running game was next to nothing. In the west coast offense, the running back plays an extremely important role, even though the offense is designed to pass first. The WCO is a very balanced attack, unlike SS's offense.

As far as the poll goes, I wish there was an option for "mixed feelings" because that's exactly the way I would answer.

Whoa dude. WCO.... lets see, Bill Walsh, Mike Holmgren, Mooch, Shottenheimer. All winners and thats just a few.

Spurrier ran a retarded offense called the fun 'n' gun. Pass, pass, and pass, even when passing is not nessesary. I do not have proof other than the fact that i saw it, but Spurrier put poor Danny Wurfel in on a play with a Center, two Guards, a RB, and Trips Wide on both sides. The refs were so baffled that they couldnt even determine if it was leagal, but the other team's four D-linemen and two blitzing linebackers helped themselves to Mr. Wurfel in less than two seconds....

Spurrier could be considered a brilliant college HC where things are 1/2 speed compared to the NFL, but to comparing him to even someone who WANTS to be a coach in the NFL would be an insult.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Multiple Sources Confirm Jim Zorn Named Head Coach

I don't know what to think yet cuz the guy is in a word...unproven. QB coaching requires overseeing of a very limited amount of players and I don't know what to think of Zorn's chances of handling an entire team. That's not to say that he won't get it and be an awesome HC for the skins. Also, I do like him as an agent of change (seems like everyone making a bid at Washington D.C. is trying to ride this wave).

I'll formulate an official opinion after the first preseason game.

But by the same token, no one knows the game like QB's do. I mean think about it for a person to play or coach QB's you have to understand the routes the WR's run, pass protection schemes, timing on running plays, and most importantly you have to understand opposing defenses and how to attack them with passes, play action, and the running game. I'm confident that Zorn understands many aspects of the game and thats why I'm riding the wave so to speak.

On top of that Zorn is probably going to bring in a quality guy from the Titans who used to play RB, which in my opinion will help balance the offense, though I doubt Zorn shares the same fondness for the passing game that Spurrier did. Then consider that he has guys like Don Breaux and Buges, who worked under Gibbs, to guide him through all the intricies of being a HC, not to mention that the guy has worked with Holmgram since around 2001. Then if that wasn't enough you have a quality defense led by a quality coordinator in Blache that has produced year in and year out regardless of the coordinator (save GW's off year and that guy that Spurrier hired to replace Marvin Lewis). Not to mention that hes also walking into a situation with a top notch special teams unit. Hail!!!

Stump Mitchell is someone I had brought up in the "Next OC" thread but mainly because I want a Stump and Rock here

I always enjoyed watching him play for the Cardinals

I don't get the whole deal with Byner. Either keep him or just fire him. Quit stringing him along

Ah, found it. Yeah, well this leadership seems to enjoy stringing people along. I don't have a tremendous amount of respect for them at this point.

As long as they let Zorn bring in his own guys our coaching staff should be fine.

What do you mean his own guys?
His own coaching staff? Thats already in place, other than 3 or so coaching spots.

There's still room for an OC, QB coach, and possibly a RB coach depending on what goes down with Byner.
