Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

So JLC is reporting that league observers believe it will take a 1st and 3rd round or two 2nd round picks to pry Chad Johnson away from Cincy. Assuming it does take that much to nab Chad Johnson and we pull the tigger, I am dead set against the trade. Trading 2 first day picks for a 30 year old receiver with character problems isn't wise IMO.

I agree! I don't want CJ, character and all, and certainly don't want to give up anything from this draft. We cannot reap the benefits of drafting, if we trade them all!

Please, please, stay away from this guy. First he would cost too much and seems to be declining talent wise, plus we don't need another Brandon Lloyd. DS and VC use your brains and draft a receiver instead of going for the quick fix.

Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

I personally would love to have Ocho Cinco but I am afraid it would cost us too many draft picks.

I dunno why people are so quick to compare CJ to Lloyd.

One glaringly different thing is CJ is good. Brandon Lloyd is not and if he is good, he failed to show that while here and could've really cared less.

I guarantee if we land CJ he will NOT be the CJ (attitude wise) of Cincinnati. Bank on it.

Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

Its a headline on Mike and Mike this morning.

The Redskins are intrested in aquiring Chad Johnson from the Bengals!!!

When these type of headlines come out this time of year, knowing our need for a WR. Im inclined to believe that DS is on the hunt.

BL you better give up your jersey boy....you are outta here!!!

Beat me to the post, but yeah I heard that on Mike & Mike this morning also.

All they would go as far as saying is that "The Redskins have made "overtures" to the Bengals with regard to Chad Johnson". Much like the "overtures" they made with regard to Lance Briggs last spring.

Although I can see Washington re-negotiating current contracts with players to get under the cap and make room, I just cannot see the Bengals going through with any trade of Johnson, to anyone.

So don't rush right out and buy a burgundy and gold #85 jersey just yet.

Ocho-Cinco is under contract through 2011 in Cincinatti. By trading Johnson NOW, the Bengals organization will have to accept MILLIONS of dollars in "Dead Money". That is a lot of money that counts against the Bengals salary cap. And it just does not make good business sense to trade him this year.

Sandtrap - you nailed it - the Bengals are not going to trade Johnson and ruin their cap just because CJ is upset. It would cost the Bengals $8.8 million in cap hits to trade him right now - plus if they did trade him they would have to get a replacement which will cost even more money - it is just not practical for the Bengals to do this. Just because a player is unhappy does not mean a GM or owner is going to relent to his trade demand immediately. People need to start looking at salary cap ramifications before they start specualting that a player will be traded.

I think we'll give up Moss and a 1st or 2nd round pick for him...

All of our depth at solid #2,3 receivers etc... it just makes sense.

Anybody have any idea about the contract implications to a deal like this?

Please tell me your kidding. Dumbest post ever. Yea why dont we throw in Samuels just for a bonus. Why would you want to unload moss?

Let me defend my post here...

This is pure speculation, based on nothing more than the track record this team has.

I'm not saying I'd want to unload Moss (although If it meant getting CJ, I would get over it), I'm saying... if Dan Snyder was actually intent on landing Chad Johnson... I think that's the ammo it would take.

Secondly, Chad Johnson would be a a huge upgrade over Moss. Look at their numbers. I'm just stating the obvious here.

Once again, I have no idea what the contract implications would be, or even if this trade would be feasible... I'm just saying that it makes sense if we were actually trying to acquire a play maker like Chad Johnson.
