Agree, but the fact of the matter is Petitbon did get the job. And so one can only assume that during the interview Bobby must have said to Gibbs, "How would you feel about having Petitbon as the D-coord?" I imagine Gibbs said, "That would be great."

Because that is exactly what happened. The similarities to the Zorn/Blache hire are uncanny, imho. I just think it's amazing none of the "Professional" media have mentioned this...
Why would they? How do you bash an orgnization with evidence to the contrary?

How long had Beathard been a GM at that point, and WOW that's a great find, thank you

Re: Petitbon "hired" before Gibbs

The article understates slightly what happened. Gibbs was told that Petitbon WAS going to be the DC no matter what and Gibbs could take it or leave it. By telling the Post he "strongly suggested" the idea, he protected Gibbs' authoritie and avoided the perception that he was being heavy handed. Don't believe everything that you read.

The one truly jaw-dropping revelation in the story is that the Redskins led the league in pass defense in 1980. I never would have guessed that in a million years.

Re: Petitbon "hired" before Gibbs

is Danny going to give Zorn the same leash that was afforded to Gibbs the first time around? its not like he (or anyone, ever) was an instant hall of famer....

I think Snyder will give Zorn a little leeway, but I really don't think he'll need it. Unlike Gibbs, he still has some veteran coaches around to help him. And, I just can't see Zorn starting 0-5.
