I can't wait till that generation dies out. (Not the people. More so that uber southern conservative thinking). I'm ready for some more progression, not regression. I could bitch about Huckabee all day. I'd rather see McCain, Romney, Paul and maybe undead Reagan again before Huckabee.

The notion that the ideas you don't like will magically disappear is one of the main reasons your side can never maintain any momentum. You have to engage opposing viewpoints with vigorous argument. You can't wish them away.

Re: Merged Thread: Romney Drops Out; Can McCain Defeat Democrats?
you can always claim your not a christian, if you don't agree with them. right now , according to you, there are 2 parties. the ultra conservatives, and the very liberals. no in between. that's one reason people like you hate John McCain. he has showed the ability to break down party affiliates, and try to work towards a common goal. for some reason, that really rubs you the wrong way. working towards whats best for America, as opposed to whats best for my party, should be how its done. but Mr Bush strictly followed his party's agenda, and its put us in one helluva mess, don't you think?

I have no problem with John McCain. I prefer a second-rate Fireman to first-rate arsonist. As for the idea that I believe in no "in between", guilty as charged. I am not discomfited, as so many on the left seem to be, by defending my ideas or engaging opposing viewpoints in vigorous debate. This is the very essence of democracy. When people express a desire to "move beyond politics", it is generally because they find dissent to be an annoyance and can't be bothered to make their case in an organized and reasoned manner. Furthermore what really "rubs me the wrong way" is poor grammar. Sentence fragments, dangling participles, and slovenly punctuation greatly undermine your already weak position.

Do or do not. There is no try.

True. But I can't say I don't get discouraged when my arguments fall on deaf ears.

It's called an opinion, one of which you don't have to agree with nor read. If you have a problem with my opinions you have the right to verbally disagree or not respond at all. But not tell me that it doesn't belong here. I don't have to justify my feelings at all to anyone. Especially someone I don't know.

![]() My original point of contention with your post was that you were stating as fact that Huckabee would try to segregate the United States. This is a highly inflammatory accusation that you provided absolutely no evidence to back up. I have no problem with other people's opinions, I just think that bold accusations should be backed with facts sometimes. I know, a crazy idea. Shame on me.

Re: Merged Thread: Romney Drops Out; Can McCain Defeat Democrats?
what exactly does gay marriage, and segregation have to do with the constitution? that's pretty much what dynamite is complaining about. ( although im not sure where she got the segregation thing from?)
