Eagles Deny Report Permission Given to Sheppard to Seek Trade

Bleeding Green Nation :: Breaking: Lito Sheppard given permission to seek trade

Interesting move. He's still fairly young and pretty talented. Except he can't stay healthy.

so why would we want him? Once again the Redskins creed of giving up too much or paying to much for talent thats over-rated

Re: Eagles Give CB Sheppard Permission to Seek Trade

There was a while there where it looked like Lito Shepphard was going to emerge as one of the NFC's dominant corners but he never took the next step. Still a very good player though.

Interesting that the article hinted the Eagles may be interested in pursuing Samuel, as that is not the type of move they would have typically made a few years ago.

There was never any mention of the Redskins wanting him. What are you talking about?

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

I doubt the Eagles trade him to anyone in the NFCE unless one of the other teams offers them a deal they can't refuse.

I doubt Lito ends up on any team in the NFC East via trade. I heard the Eagles are interested in Larry Fitzgerald. They would have to throw in a a pick or two to make that happen, but a tandem of Sheppard and Rolle would be very solid, and Arizona would save a lot of money on the deal. Fitzgerald's cap hits are HUGE the next two seasons. About $16M I think. Also, Anquan Boldin, Bryan Johnson, and Leonard Pope are still very good weapons even without Fitzgerald.

You don't trade with a team in your own division.

I heard on a local sports talk show that the cardinals are going to move Rolle to safety. They haven't been happy with him.

Sheppard to the Cardinals certainly makes sense. Especially since they plan on moving Rolle to Free Safety anyway

Re: Eagles Give CB Sheppard Permission to Seek Trade

Just to be clear, I didn't start this thread with the intention of saying let's trade for him, or even that the Redskins were interested. Just thought I'd point out some pretty relevant news about a division rival.

Re: Eagles Give CB Sheppard Permission to Seek Trade

Thanks for clearing that up... from that POV I must say that if and/or when he is traded, unless its to us, it will not affect the Redskins very much. Sheppard is not a proven DB by any means. Does the name Jason David ring any bells for anyone? He played for the super bowl Colts and for some reason was regarded as a solid CB. Well, he ended up getting burnt bad in New Orleans so much he rode the pine most of the season. As far as us trading for/signing a DB I think we should go after Marcus Trufant or Asante Samuel. But thats a topic for another thread, right Smooty?
