Either way second or third is a small price to pay for a proven #1 WR. Especially considering that we would concievably use one of those picks on a rookie that history tells us probably won't pan out.
IMO, I would be all over that with our 2nd round pick. I know that just about everyone on here would be up in arms, but who would we get in the 2nd round that could produce like Williams? If you put Williams in an offense that had a good QB, not an average one like Kitna, he would be a monster in the NFL...

I don't think that many people would be up in arms. I think it would be pretty well received. Do we have good info that Williams is still on the block? I know that was the rumor a while ago, still valid?

I will 3rd that notion. Big names are just that, and not willing to play their role. Hackett will play his part and leave us draft picks for other needs because lets face it we have a few. I think lineman are a top priority as JC needs to get the ball to this stud receiving corps we are all playing fantasy football in our minds with. Not to mention too many big personalities will certainly throw our team into a tailspin with our less than experienced head coach.

Why is eveyone so high on DJ Hackett? Isn't he VERY injury prone? What has he done that's so special? To me he's not better ( or worse) than the guys we already have. His only advantage is he knows the offense. No thanks.

He was the leading receiver in the loss we received in the playoffs this year!!!
101 yards I believe 6 or 7 catches!!! The guy is a underrated gem.

He had a good game against us but is he consistent? I think Hackett's been around for 3-4 years and hasn't really had a breakout year. I guess if he's a FA and isn't going to cost much then sign him. But if he's going to cost a lot of $ and or draft pick then I'd say we pass on him.

His production this year (when healthy) has been very good. His ankle injuries this year and at the end of 2006 are a major concern (he was also out in early 2004 with a hip injury). Not sure if the 2006 & 2007 injuries were on the same ankle.

He's a risk, but this risk is also what will make his contract less. IMO we shouldn't be the high bidder for him, with Zorn here and Hackett's size compared to our receivers, he has great opportunity here and should settle for a bit less to come to DC. If not, move on to Bryant Johnson.

Re: How about Bryant Johnson?

What about Andre Davis of the texans? the guy was money for the texans and caught everything thrown his way, especially looked good on the deep ball, plus he's a great return man also,I think he's 6'1" or 6'2" 195 .He was in a contract year and the texans cant afford to pay him more than 3rd wr money

Maybe the Hokie fans would be excited, but I'd say no one should pay Davis more than 3rd WR money ... since he is nothing more than a 3rd WR ...

Re: How about Bryant Johnson?

I love the thought of getting this guy. Everyone is always concerned that we need a number one reciever. I think what we need is a possession reciever, and Johnson could be that guy. It would be hard for anyone to shine, with Bolden and Fitzgerald. I also think that the Redskins recievers are very underated. Its up to Jason Campbell to improve, for them to shine.

Re: How about Bryant Johnson?

We need a WR we all agree, Roy Williams, D.J. Hackett or Bryant Johnson all have good height & excellent potential whoever cost the least take that one, we need the draft picks for DL & OL
