Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
Why do you guys always neglect the O-line....sad face?
. Our offense would have been a whole lot better if we had depth along the O-line say someone like, oh I don't know, say Brandon Albert. I'm telling you, this guy is going to be a beast. I definately think he's going to be a pro-bowler at Guard and will probably switch to Tackle one day. The draft is deep at D-Line so we can afford to wait a round or two. And let me remind you that both of our starting tackles are in their 30's. I don't know about you but I don't want to become the Chiefs, and the main reason our offense has been in the top half of the league the past few years is good O-line play. I also don't like drafting Wideouts and as much as I like Jordy Nelson and Devin Thomas I don't trust them. Recievers that come out of the draft are a crapshoot, quality lineman are a lot easier to identify and draft in my opinion. I'm also scared of all the recent support for Cromartie. I think that the support for him is based on the performance of his cousin as well as his 40 time. I'd rather use the combine to make sure they're working hard, and don't have character issues. Remember Denver's pass defense struggled with Bly and Bailey at corner. Corner play doesn't mean what it use to IMO. Today I'm still looking for Albert to get drafted by us in the first round and I'm hoping to grab Dre Moore in the second. After which I would like to see us draft the best DE or DB. Of course if Jordy Nelson was there in the third round I wouldn't object. However right now I'm starting to shy away from Devin Thomas. From what I've heard a lot of his yards were on screen plays and his route running could still use a lot of work. For me I would take him in the third round if he was there, but I'm starting to think that someone is going to take him in the first round.

While all of these things are true regarding the O-Line, it is more practical to address the more exigent needs of the team. I agree that we need to add O-line depth, but not that early. I think that as a forum we can agree that we "needs" to address certain defensive issues at DLine and CB. If not that,, WR is a secondary option for the first. With the current projections(and the good combines of defensive skill players) we could easily have a James Hardy or Limas Sweed fall to us at #21. I would not like that, but if JIm Zorn needs one of those guys to help his experiment happen, then Im all for it. Quote:

DRC is a special athlete at the CB position, and since he went to a small school so he is naturally being slept on. If he is this good now and can play against top ranked seniors and can out-perform them at the combine, then imagine how he could develop at the next level. Quote:

"He could possibly move to ROT in the NFL but we think he fits best inside at guard, where he should quickly develop into an upper-echelon starter." However I have my own reasons for wanting him outside of possibly being a future tackle. See Joe Gibb's employed a power running game, and a while ago I was surprised to see that Joe Gibbs best backs YPC usually went from 3.8 to 4.0 ypc. Earnest Byner had 3.9 YPC during the last Super Bowl year. Riggins averaged 3.6 YPC back in 1983. Last year Portis average 3.9. Zorn on the other hand I see calling more outside runs, and thats where Albert comes in. Now from what I've seen and heard Albert has enough power to play smash mouth football, but the special thing about him is his quickness. The guy has the ability to get to the second level and hit guys in space. On top of that he's as good of a pass blocking Guard as your going to find this year so Jason Campbell will be able to sleep well at night. Albert also has the ability to pull which is great because teams knew when Thomas was healthy that most of the pulling and trap plays were going to involve him. With Albert we'll have more room to run traps and sweeps to either side since Albert has proven more then capable in terms of being a pulling Guard. Keep in mind I'm not Albert or bust, I think theres a lot of guys that we can draft that will become quality starters. However the best player available at 21 in my opinion is Albert and granted you've read this far you can see that I have my reasons. I realize he's not the sexiest pick, and I know a guy with 4.28 speed or a guy with 1,200+ recieving yards looks better then drafting a guard, but I still believe in this guy. Trust me whoever gets him will be happy they did. "If its a coincidence that two guys named "Moss" in the NFL are beasts and not related, then imagine what havoc the Cromartie's will wreak on the NFL." Note: Funny thing about Rogers-Cromartie is that until a year or two ago, he didn't know that he and Antonio were second cousins. To this day I wonder how long he's been going by the name Rogers-Cromartie. I'll admit I like him but obviously not as much as Albert.
