Re: The Redskins' new approach to free agency
Never mind going after other free agents, there are several of our own free agents I'd like to re-sign. Actually, just Reche Caldwell. The others I don't think are a huge priority.

Re: The Redskins' new approach to free agency
While I'm happy that we're not out spending dumb doo doo dollars on everyone out there, I still think we have some legitimate needs (CB, DL, WR) that need to be addressed and we could be missing out. I'm disappointed we weren't in the mix for the DT from Green Bay, Corey Williams or Randall Gay from NE.. I hope we don't hope that we're going to find all of the pieces we need in the draft. Bringing in Hackett or Bryant Johnson is a must IMO since we didn't pick up Ernest Wilford.

Re: The Redskins' new approach to free agency
im against it this year..normally we go off spending too much money on OLDER over the hill players..but this year there was a fresh crop of good talent and i think we're taking a backseat so we won't be the "oh there goes the redskins spending again cliche"..bad move..sign good players and we'll be okay

Since then, what "over the hill" players have the Skins signed for big $? We've brought in some old vets at low prices, e.g. Godfrey, Fabini & Wade, but look at all the others we've signed, they're all under 30 & in their prime: Coles, ARE, Loyd (no prime for this guy though, lol), Carter, Washington, Springs, Griffin, even Arch. The only over 30 players we gave considerable $ to since 01 that I can think of are Phillip Daniels & Brunell, both aren't stars but IMO have been good contributors. Of courese more recently Collins, but we know he's got value for us. |

i'm more concerned about dropping the ball on good talent..in my eyes the best pick-up trade or FA is clinton portis and springs..Carter had a good season but lets call a spade a spade.Arch,Lloyd and even Brunell(in my eyes cost us more games then won)are noteable bad choices. I'm just saying if there was a time to spend its now.

Re: The Redskins' new approach to free agency
Michael Turner got:
The deal is worth $34.5 million with approximately $15 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN.com's Michael Smith. He's never had more than 500 yards rushing in one season. Vinny and Co. are looking very good right now. These prices are insane!

Re: The Redskins' new approach to free agency
Well look who he has been stuck behind his entire career. When he has seen the field he is averaging 5.5 yards per carry. I'd say the deal is high but it could be a steel if he works out.

Re: The Redskins' new approach to free agency
Turner's getting paid on his physical ability and potential. If you're Atl. you need some high character guys, and some guys that have talent. I like move. The contact is probably 15 mil over three years. That's not bad for a starting RB. Now they'd better go get a QB.

My only point is about the age of players we've acquired, and I stick to what I said; that since the famed 2000 season, we haven't signed many old players to noteworthy contracts, mainly just cheap depth signings. I think this offseason will be a good example of that as well, we may sign some 30-somethings, but it will be for 1-2 years & close to our beloved VET MIN! |

Re: The Redskins' new approach to free agency
We may be patient, but teams are passing us by this free agency. There were people out there we could make a play for and didn't. No play on Vilma? Dumb! He is young and talented, just didn't fit in the Jets scheme.

Re: The Redskins' new approach to free agency
I think one more bad season and the 49ers will make EVERYONE forget about the 2000 Redskins.
