Like I've said before JLC works for the Post and Dan Snyder and the Post have a horrible relationship so it would make sense that JLC would not have access to many of the goings on behind closed doors at Redskins Park. I think La Canfora's blog needs to be renamed to Not Really A Redskins Insider at All.
Well some of his biggest connections (if not his biggest) on the team are gone. He, like anyone else in the biz, is right sometimes and he's wrong sometimes.

But people just need to learn how to read. JLC is just saying he think Taylor is someone to keep an eye on. He makes no allusion to the Redskins being interested. When he wants to, whether his source is reliable or not, he will say something like "League sources say..." or "A source inside the Redskins says..."

I dont think any rumors will be enough to clean him outta Miami. He's 60% of their D.

I don't seem him going anywhere either. He still has several miles on his tires, and he's got to be in the top 5 DE's in the leauge.

To the people who don't want to give up picks for him: Would you mind giving a second or a third round pick for a player that could average around 9 or 10 sacks a year for the next 3 or 4 years on top of allowing Carter to get an additional 1 or 2 sacks a year?

yeah, of course.. if it's automatic... but this isn't automatic.

He could very well come here and flop.

Do you think that's what it would be?

He's 33 years old. Jason Taylor is a great player, but it's highly unlikely he'll be racking up double digit sacks when he's 37. Trading first day picks for young, emerging players isn't a bad idea. Trading first day picks for 33 year old players is rarely, if ever, a good idea.

He is 33, yes, but he's not maintaining a 300 pound frame year round (or any part of the year for that matter). Most scouts consider him skinny (comparitively) which tells me that he has the perfect size for his frame. He's also capable of playing the left or right side. Also since becoming a full time starter he's missed one game, and that was back in 1999.

Michael Strahan is not nearly as durable as Taylor yet in the last two years he (Strahan) played 16 games he's gotten 11.5 and 9 sacks respectively. Remember Strahan is about 3 years older then Taylor. Taylor also keeps himself in great shape year round while Strahan contemplates retirement and his newly found bachlorhood.

I say that when you look at Taylor you see a 29 year old player. Not the 33 year old guy that he really is. 3 or 4 productive years for a second round pick is worth it to me.

I explained it a little better in my blog but this post is the jist of how I feel about a potential JT trade.

Thank you, thats what im saying.. It's not like he's on the upside of his career, yes he made the pro-bowl in miami but hes coming to a more competitve team now and We have a player almost exactly like him but younger in Carter. we need someone else off that edge , or a big ol DT.

To be honest, I dont see ANY player in the league that is over 31 and is worth trading 1 pick for, much less 2.

He ont be as productive wherever he goes, you heard it here first

Or you could draft a guy to be good for the next 10 years. Maybe trading would work if we were one player away from the Super Bowl, but we're not. We need to build through the draft to replace our old and high priced players like Daniels, Griffin, Springs, Washington, etc.

Suppose what you're saying is true. Don't you think the Dolphins are going to say "Look at what some other D-linemen are getting. Regardless of their age, none have done even half of what Taylor has done in his career. We're going to need a couple of first day picks" Just a third round pick probably won't cut it.

Damn Smootsmack, you sure know how to crush a mans dream of having two double digit sack masters on his favorite team

I think you might be right about the asking for two draft picks scenario, however Jason Taylor contemplating retirement could make the Dolphins more then happy to accept a late 2nd round pick. The good news is that, if I remember correctly, Rogers and Stroud were dealt for no higher then a 3rd round pic and those two weren't neraly as unhappy as Taylor is with their respective teams.

If the Dolphins ask for two picks in the first 3 rounds in exchange for Tyalor then I draw the line. However that kind of player for a 2nd or 3rd is to tempting for me to pass up.

However if a trade does take place God forbid he gets injured, since that seems to be the main cause of Rice's recent fall from grace. Remember to knock on wood for the sake of warding off evil spirits as that seems to frighten them.
