Desmond thought it was 1996 when Widmore bought the ledger at the auction, and gave Desmond the address of Penny's flat...
The painting of the Black Rock is hung in Widmore's office during one of Desmond's flashbacks during Season 2 I believe. However, I skipped over what you guys have said about last night's episode because I haven't seen it yet. Will watch over the weekend...
