While the Panthers' front office has insisted it is not trading Julius Peppers, the three-time Pro Bowl defensive end was seen in a prominent seat Sunday at a Denver Nuggets game, the Rocky Mountain News reported.
Peppers, who still has one year remaining on his contract, can't speak or visit with another team without the Panthers' permission. Despite trade rumors surrounding Peppers, Panthers GM Marty Hurney stated there was nothing to it.

The more distant Rodgers is from the Skins the better. Many of the mis-deeds early in Snyder's time can be attributed to Rodgers, Spurrier in particular. He was the VP of Football Ops before VC. If you want to keep up with our "good friend" Mr. Rodgers check out the link:

If you have Demetric Evans, Chris Wilson, Phillip Daniels, and Andre Carter why would you need another DE, so he would take up some more cap space?

Good point, if you want depth you can get it in the draft. we've done a pretty good job in getting good defensive linemen in the later rounds (golston, montgomery...i know they're DTs, but we could get a good DE)

Outside of Andre Carter, which one of them is going to get you more then 2 sacks? I know Chris Wilson had around 3-4 last year but I dont see him being a full time starter in the NFL capable of improving our team significantly.

I know some of them may play the run o.k., but you have to be able to get to the QB to make your whole D a more cohesive unit, further opening up the playbook for Blatche allowing this D to step up to a top 5 D this year.

This isn’t a depth move; it would be a move that I feel would spring us into a top flight D in the whole NFL! If you’re going to use your first pick on a DE then I'm okay with that as well, but we need another pass rusher in a bad way.

I have entirely soured on the "trade for other teams players" route especially the "trade for other teams stars" route. If you look at our recent draft history (since 2004), we have hit on all our 1-3rd round picks (six picks, six starters) (jury is stll out on 2005's JC and Carlos).

Somewhere around 2004'ish, the FO starting getting some good hits and it seems, to me at least, that our drafting has actually improved. As such, I really am all about getting as many shots in the lottery as possible. For those who say, "you know what you're getting when you trade for an established player" You mean like Archuletta? LLoyd? Trung? John Hall? Chad Morton? Free agency and pro players are a crapshoot too. Is he going to adapt? Was he just looking for the payday? Was he a product of the system? etc.

I like our draft choices recently and hope we can continue to hit on the early rounders and find some gems in the later rounds. If so, then we will be built to win EVERY year not just for a particular year.

We've all been griping about our need for a solid DE for years...one of the best may be availble...outside of dollars....Peppers will be better than anyone we could possibly draft with our first round pick....anything more than our first though would be foolish.

Getting him for a 2nd would be a steal...this guy is good folks...I dont give a crap what kind of year he had last year.....get him!

Absolutely not. I would not be happy trading our 1st rounder for either of them. Both will require a TON of money, and we need some youth to take over this team for the future. It's not always about today, sometimes it's about tomorrow. Keep the damn draft picks for a change and see what happens.

I am not so sure I agree with you. Campbell could be available with the 21st pick for us, and I think he could be more productive and a hell of a lot cheaper.

I don’t think the Panthers feel they will be able to afford his salary, that they will have to get done next off-season, especially after the inflated salary numbers we have seen this off-season. So, instead of loosing him next year without getting anything in return they figure they should at least attempt to shop him discreetly this off-season, shortly after everyone else is gone, (notice their trickery). That’s my answer to several people saying, why do you think Carolina doesn’t want him. Its not that they don’t think he isn’t serviceable, or somehow not a superstar anymore, because that statement is purely idiotic, its that they either worry about what he will demand next year while being capable of testing the market and shopping his services.

Maybe…… just……. maybe he isn’t happy there???? and they know they will lose him to free agency next year. Just my two cents.

Also, let me state again that I will be fine if they draft a DE with the first pick in the draft as I think you may have a slim chance of finding someone with the skills of pepper, a risk I feel is worth taking. I don’t have a man crush on JP, I just think that at the end of the day we would all be upset if the Panthers deal him for something stupid like several late picks....

he's still young enough to have 5-6 good years, but he might have hit a wall... not sure.

at his best, he's definitely worth signing, but teams don't just trade away superstud DEs, so you gotta wonder if it's injuries or locker room issues or whatnot that's making them consider this kind of move.

it's easy to buy the hype and expect 20 sacks a year, but you've got to be careful not to end up with another TJ duckett.
