If you have Demetric Evans, Chris Wilson, Phillip Daniels, and Andre Carter why would you need another DE, so he would take up some more cap space?

Good point, if you want depth you can get it in the draft. we've done a pretty good job in getting good defensive linemen in the later rounds (golston, montgomery...i know they're DTs, but we could get a good DE)

Outside of Andre Carter, which one of them is going to get you more then 2 sacks? I know Chris Wilson had around 3-4 last year but I dont see him being a full time starter in the NFL capable of improving our team significantly.

I know some of them may play the run o.k., but you have to be able to get to the QB to make your whole D a more cohesive unit, further opening up the playbook for Blatche allowing this D to step up to a top 5 D this year.

This isn’t a depth move; it would be a move that I feel would spring us into a top flight D in the whole NFL! If you’re going to use your first pick on a DE then I'm okay with that as well, but we need another pass rusher in a bad way.

1st.) It doesnt matter if Chris Wilson becomes a full time starter off the bat. What he is doing right now is more than was expected. He had 4 sacks last year and that was in limited action. This kid will bulk up like hes being asked to and he will be a force. He had 2 sacks in the Seattle Game alone. that's 6 sacks for an undrafted rookie. How can you not see the potential in this guy? I believe he will prove you wrong, even next year.

2nd) Our defense lays the freakin run GREAT. but you only need 2-3 players capable of creating pressure and getting sacks on the dline then you have to have players who can play the run great too. I think we are on the right road. WE will be fine.

Chris Wilson needs to add about 20-30 pounds to be an every down lineman. Right now, Chris' biggest asset is his speed. If Chris adds 20-30 pounds to his frame, he'll almost certainly slow down. Could Chris Wilson (who will be 26 at the start of the season) develop into some stud D-lineman? Sure, but I wouldn't put money on that bet.

We dont need him to be an everydown lineman, and just because he bulks up, doesnt mean he will lose his burst, especially if he works on his legs. I'm happy with having him as a situational player. If he turns out to be an everydown player then awesome. If not, then oh well. But so far, there's no point to be negative about him. We are allowed to get some gems every once in a while too, and it will continue to happen to teams in the future.

Don’t expect him to be much more then a good option off the bench. I'm just saying we need a marquee, young and talented DE with a good combination of speed and size that we can all hang our hats on. I brought up Julius Peppers just simply because of his amazing talents, and wouldn’t want to be sitting back on my couch, like the Packers of last year, saying oh wow they were willing to deal him for a 4th rounder, i.e. Randy Moss!

I know it would probably take more but what if they would take a 2nd this year and a 3rd next, would you consider that??
