Re: Saints After Shockey?!
Update from PFT:
SHOCKEY TO SAINTS STILL SIMMERING? Posted by Mike Florio on April 10, 2008, 9:02 a.m. Last month, there were rumors and reports of discussions between the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants regarding a possible trade that would send tight end Jeremy Shockey from Broadway to the Bayou. As we’d last heard it, the Giants wanted a second-round pick and safety Roman Harper, and the Saints declined. But now renewed talk of a possible trade is emerging, from an unlikely source. Several readers have pointed out to us that WWE announcer Jim Ross has posted the following entry on his blog: “Reggie Bush was also at [WrestleMania] 24 and was hanging around Snoop Dogg’s trailer most of the afternoon on Sunday. My sources tell me that the New York Giants are going to trade outstanding TE Jeremy Shockey to Bush’s Saints, prior to the NFL draft. Shockey is an Oklahoma kid from Ada who told me last week he was looking forward to playing for the Saints.” Shockey has been the subject of extensive speculation, given that he played no role in the team’s stunning postseason run. Some believe that Eli Manning never would have become a championship-caliber quarterback is Shockey had not been injured. |

My little Giants Rant
This is interesting, although probably unlikely. If it did go through, however, I would not be surprised. The Giants winning the super bowl is going to work out so well for us. They have got to be the luckiest team in the league. They barely get by every game through inconsistency and luck, then enter the playoffs overrated, and still inconsistent. First, they beat up on a bunch of old dudes in Tampa, beat the overhyped Cowgirls, and then win in a heartbreaker against the packers in a game that Al Harris strait up blew. The only game they won, played hard and prevailed with great justice, was the Super Bowl. Then they wave off the QB problem, because now they have an MVP. Then they sign a highly inconsistent time-bomb coach to a multiyear deal. They are very full of themselves right now and think that they are the best team in the league. Dont be surprised to see Kevin Boss starting next season, along with Eli breaking the record for most games lost in the fourth quarter, and for most INTs in a season. Who needs to improve a defense that beat the #1 offense in the league? They are headed for trouble and I can deffinately see the Caint's taking advantage. The Giants only proved 4 things last year:
1. you do not have to participate in a mini-camp to win (Micheal Strahan) 2. you do not have to practice. ever. (Plaxico Burress) 3. Its okay to run your mouth and not block as long as you have a few good catches. (Shockey) 4. no matter how good you are, you will be forgotten next year. (Tiki Barber) With a Super Bowl win comes great lessons in life, and the Giants learned just these. With these new lessons learned, mixed with a little luck, the Giants should win all of 3 games next season.
