he had character flags and wasn't a very safe pick, but JAX bought into the hype. mike wiliams and reggie bush had the same deal (though reggie might figure it out still). you can search back and see posts here pre draft and see. i called reggie bush the best WR of the draft and jones-drew the best RB value, so the combine isn't worthless (it really helped jones-drew), but you can't base your draft on the combine alone. research is important.

QB to WR conversions just don't work that well. hines ward did it, but ARE isn't really anything more than average, same with jones, and i can't even remember any others.

Ronald Curry was on his way to being a really good wr for oak. but he's had 2 big injuries. Brad Smith of the Jets is decent but not a starter.

I think Jones was at some point doing well & looking like he could become a solid wr if not a star. It sounds like his attitude & personal issues are the problem. If he gets suspended it might be the best thing for his career, might make him realize he could be out of a job, cause him to get his game together.
