Re: Portis to play Saturday - he doesn't seem too happy about it
I think w/ a new coach and new o coordinator Portis should play a little bit. Most other NFL teams put their starters in for a couple of series. No big deal.
It is a new system. Remember when Al Saunders took over and we didn't do anything in the preseason. That didn't go well that year. I say put them in there (and other starters) for a little bit and let's go. It's football you can't play scared that someone might get hurt. Of course you've got to be smart about it too. |

It is a new system as far as the passing game and blocking schemes.
His money is guaranteed, he needs to stop complaining and do his job. I'm going to my boss right now and tell him that i dont want to get ready for the big meeting, that I need rest. We will see how that one goes over.

Resting players in the preseason is not uncommon. Skipping out on meetings in the real world is not reality. |

That's what camp is for. Not sure what a series or two against a vanilla defense is going to do in the long run in that regard.

Especially the passing game, there are nuances to it than even affect CP in protection as the pickups have to be quicker. If it wasn't beneficial for the starters to play, they'd sit the whole unit. |
