I'll say just what I said when I called in to the Sports Reporters on ESPN 980 this afternoon -- the risk of getting injured in a worthless preseason game is far greater than "not being ready" come Sept. 4th (which I don't believe for one minute). If he's "not ready" for the Giants, 5-10 plays in two or three exhibition games isn't going to change that.

Ultimately, the preseason is for discovering bloodthirsty rookies who can make the roster -- not for six-year veterans.

i agree that portis doesnt need to prove anything, ect but you cant create "game speed" in practice which i imagine takes at least a half to get used to. last night was good to see him out there with his 1st string teammates but i thought he played too long.
