You have an opinion on why the Cowboys should not win. How about an opinion on why anyone else will.

Becuase they(the Cowboys) think that only they can,ask the Giants if they care about the Cowboys 13 pro bowl players or who won the East?Anyone that doesn't believe that the East is wide open is a fool !

Not talking about who WON the east, I believe the thread was looking for who will WIN the East THIS YEAR.

Yup ,and it was an example of why the East is wide open and the Cowboys are not a lock ................no matter how many pro bowlers are on it,like last year.

WOW!!! i stirred the hornet's nest! i really didn't mean to. yes, in my OPINION getting rid of jason campbell is the difference in the redskins being a sub .500 team and a super bowl contender. for those who respectfully disagreed thank you. for those who chose the low road and attack me with words like "retarded post" or "straight jacket" this site is supposed to be "discussion for the knowledgeable fan" do the research for yourself, put it in my face with FACTS, prove me wrong in front of everyone.post it for everyone to see. i'll make it easy. show me jason campbell has more wins than loses as the REDSKINS starting quarterback prior to 9/4/08 and i'll eat all the humble pie you can serve...the challange has been laid out, any takers?

Um, yeah, we pretty much did that already.

I think we need to be clear on what part of your post is the insane part. Implied, strongly, in your post was your opinion that Jason Campbell is not the best quarterback on the Redskins' roster. Fine, that's your opinion, and you are totally entitled to it. There's mounds and mounds of objective evidence we could bring and ask you to defend why you believe Todd Collins and/or Colt Brennan is a better QB then Jason Campbell, but you aren't the only person on this fourm who is of that opinion. I disagree, but that's my prerogative.

No one is attacking you for being of that opinion.

Your post implied that the Redskins are so strong a team, that when Quarterbacked by Todd Collins (or Brennan), they are a 12 win team. 12 wins. As you said, a super bowl contender. Again, that's your opinion of this team, and no one is calling you out on that.

But then you said that they are a 6-10 team with Jason Campbell. And if you were basing your 12-4 prediction off talent, and not some total cosmic fluke, then you are 100% factually inaccurate in your assessment of the effect that one player can have on a team. It, very literally, is not possible for one player to take a SUPER BOWL CONTENDER, and tank them to the point of 6-10.

Maybe you really think the Redskins are somewhere in the middle talent-wise (say, 9 wins), and that if they make a QB change, they could be a little bit better. I would respect that opinion/argument. But you said the Redskins were a 12 win team (which is three more than last year, if you are counting), and that with Jason Campbell, they are all of a sudden a totally talentless team. None of this even considers that maybe, just maybe (as jdlea pointed out), that Todd Collins and Colt Brennan would be among the worst starting QBs in the league if they had to play a full season, and yet...you would still expect the Redskins to go 12-4 without a passing game.

If you were expecting for people not to call BS on that, you clearly don't lurk here often enough.

First, I need to say, you need to read GTripp's post. It was a great response.

Second, it is not us that needs to prove anything to you. You are the one that spewed a bunch of BS and did NOTHING to back it up. We have made a few comments to counteract you (see gtripps post), but you have done nothing to prove to us that you are correct.

You mention the win/loss record. Well, in case you haven't noticed, Collins is 10-10 in his 10 year CAREER. Campbell is 8-12. That's only a 2 game difference at best over the course of a season assuming you are going 100% by the numbers. So that 6 game swing is a bit overzealous by the numbers.
Todd Collins Statistics - Pro-Football-Reference.com
Jason Campbell Statistics - Pro-Football-Reference.com

As several of us have mentioned, Collins is without his god Saunders...this is Collins first season away from him in a long long time. He's starting from scratch at an old age.
ps- weeks 1-4, Campbell went 3-1.
weeks 15-18, Collins went 3-1.

Also, Collins was 8-25 vs the Giants in a WIN. He had 166 yards passing and 0 tds while the team ran for 153 yards and 2 tds. Obviously, the win was not his, it was due to our rushing and defense.
In the playoff loss to Seattle, a lot of people here blamed Suisham...while it did start the decline, we seem to forget that Collins threw 2 key interceptions when it mattered most. This means that Collins is winless in the playoffs.
Keep in mind, he did win a meaningless game vs Dallas (meaningless to them anyway). But even in that game, we had 131 yards and 2 tds rushing. While Collins threw only 1 td.
So it appears that Collins only lead us to 1 solid win.
You probably shouldn't look so hard into those 3 wins.

Concur no one is a "lock" in any division or wither conference. Call me kooky, but that is why they play 16 games.

Regardless, even your picks have Dallas winning the division.
