when i started thinking about it sounded good but that might be more ammo for the 4 more years of bush theory. I hate to say this but yet again we dont have the best of candidates to choose from yet again. I have felt this way the last 3 presidential elections. Its like choosing the lesser of two evils.

Since my post, I've read the same thing. He is apparently in with Labor and trial lawyers.
I dunno. Something tells me he is going to be more harmful than helpful.

Re: Obama Selects Senator Joe Biden as Running Mate
I think this pick can go either way. Either really good or really bad. I doubt seriously he is going to end up being a below the radar forgotten candidate.
The question is though, does this represent a bit of a shift in BO's approach? The "hope/change" campaign was starting to stall out a little bit as people actually started to wonder if this guy with an intersting message but dubious qualifications could actually do the job. I think we may see a more directed approach and less of the vague "hope/change" message that ahs gotten him to this point. If that is the case then I am very impressed with his abilities to read the political winds and capitilize. If he goes about spouting about change and so forth with any great effort then he'll end up looking like a dope...the "change" guy who nominated an old crusty white guy who is essentially the democrat version of the guy he is running aganist. The same guy who represents the same old same old....but only if he's a Republican. Otherwise old crusty white guys are OK. |

Re: Obama Selects Senator Joe Biden as Running Mate
I like the pick. Regardless of whom Obama would have chosen, there would have been risk, some downside, and critism. Had it been Hilary, it would have been you can't trust her. Had it been Kaine, it would have been too much inexperience on one ticket. And so on.
Some argue his message of change has been undercut by picking Biden, but Obama is running for President not Joe Biden. And at the end of the day, people make there voting decisions based on whose on top of the ticket, not the bottom. If anything, this gives Obama some foreign policy coverage between now and November if or when another international conflict arises. In other words, Joe Biden provides a layer of comfort for those voters who are either a tad leary of Obama's experience or still don't know him. From top to bottom I think it's a very solid pick. |

Zero chance on Powell. I have read rumblings that he's a closet Obama supporter. I am guessing we'll hear zippy from him anytime soon or he'll come in favor of BO.

Re: Obama Selects Senator Joe Biden as Running Mate
You guys are hopeless. So if Obama picked someone who isn't from Washington you'd say "it's an inexperienced ticket" and if he picked someone who has experience you'd say "so this is what change looks like?" Republicans, the ultimate hatters!
Obama is going to be the president and there's nothing wrong with getting advice from someone with experience.

Re: Obama Selects Senator Joe Biden as Running Mate
I'm not fan of pork so you won't see me defend that but to suggest that Biden is "one of biggest pork barrel spenders" is a vicious lie. I would recommend you check out the Pig Book before regurgitating stuff being put out there to tear him down.
As for my comment on Republicans, I stand by it. I'm sorry but the Republican as I see it is guns, gays, greed and god. That is to say, I whole heartedly believe it to be complete trash. A used tampon is less odious.

I've heard that Obama actually had chosen Kathleen Sebelius but then abandoned the idea.

I agree. That depth of feeling should be reserved for The Redskins.

The dispassionate mind is pretty rare. Your party affiliation should not be some badge of honor that you wear on your shirt sleeve to defend with all of your passion. People get sucked in because they're too lazy to educate themselves... so they in turn look up to their political leaders to make their minds up for them. I mean it makes sense the most basic level. A "Follow the leader" mindset makes sense to a voter that has to lead his or her own life, but doesn't have the time or the interest to invest in the affairs of our government. We're all guilty to some extent... just some (and I'm not pointing anyone out) are more obvious than others. Plus... from a politicians standpoint... that's exactly what they want you to do. They want to activate the emotional circuits of your brain that inspire you to go out and vote. They want to give you an emotional attachment that drives you to the polls, which isn't necessarily a bad thing all the time. If we lived in a world that was fully rational, we would be completely passive and inactive. No-one would react to any kind of crisis or alarm. It would just be a totally non-responsive or inclusive. It's a citizens duty to involve emotion into politics... but it's equally his or her duty to not get carried away with all the rhetorical bullshit that's out there.
