The front office and coaches were not preparing to win the opening game. They were, and still are, preparing to win long term. So yeah we're all frustrated with a game one loss, but let's remember the big picture.

You make some great points . As far as preparing for the long term , they better stop the trend of throwing away draft picks . We will need to replace Samuals, Kendall, Thomas , Jansen , Sellers , and maybe Portis in the next 2 or three years . Portis will still be a good back , but he will not be as fast in three years . We will also have to replace Griffin , Taylor , Washington , Fletcher , Springs and possibly Smoot in the same time frame . I just hope Zorn can win enough games and stay here for 5 years , so JC and Colt can stay in the same Offense year in / out . I cannot see us being able to win in the playoffs until we build better lines on both sides of the ball . As far as Cooley , he needs to stop blogging and doing radio , he sucks at blocking ,, he looked like a ten year old last night !!
