There were several teams that asked him to compete for a backup job. He always said no, at most he would compete for the starting job. So that was that.

Don't forget that he has the most obnoxious agent ever. There are a lot of teams that don't want to deal with him. I think if he swallowed some of his pride and took a backup job making backup salary he'd be on a roster by Friday.
