Re: Update: McCain Selects Gov. Sarah Palin as Running Mate
Let me first say that I am an Obama supporter and I disagree with many of Palin's socio-political views. However, I must say I am somewhat troubled by the nature and volume of attacks on her lately. She got flak for having a young baby and running for VP when no new father would ever be questioned for running for VP. She has gotten tremendous flak for her lack of experience when she has as much experience as a Governor as Edwards did as a Senator when he ran in 2004. She is ridiculed for her lack of foreign policy experience when Obama's foreign policy experience is equally scant. I feel like a feminist right now, but I can't help but wonder if she is drawing more than her fair share of criticism because of her gender and not because of her politics.
Saden, this is in no way directed at you. I'm responding to the flood of stories I've been reading on cnn.com, politico.com, etc. and the nature of the television press coverage. Dems are acting like the press is fawning all over her while I feel quite the opposite. She's getting a TON of coverage and is being called the GOP's new rock star, but she's getting hit with a lot of criticism that isn't being leveled at her male counterparts.
