I am talking about not throwing into double or triple coverage; looking off safeties; throwing to the open man (even if it is the short dump off) instead of trying to force a pass to a well covered man. Regarding avoiding the rush, it is not fair to Ramsey to use Tom Brady as an example, but...Tom Brady is just as slow a foot as Ramsey, but Brady senses when he has been holding the ball too long and seems to feel a pass rusher coming close to him. He does a better job of eluding them, while Ramsey sometimes seems like a sitting duck. Also, I heard a reporter (I forget his name) mention that Ramsey was sacked alot in college as well. Seems like Ramsey's getting sacked alot is not something new to him, might be from him holding the ball to long. Also during a Redskins game this season or preseason the commentator brought up the stat that Ramsey has the most (percentage wise) passes kncked down at the line than any other active starting Qb in the league; that has thrown a certain minimum of passes. Some of it is the O-lines fault, but all QB's in the NFL have little time to throw and get pressured. Ramsey needs to stop tempting fate and make up his mind sooner and throw it or throw it away. I have said this alot but Ramsey reminds me alot of Drew Blesoe, great arm but gets sacked alot. |

What Bugel Said
I just heard the clip on Redskins Report (DC area show). Here's his quote:

Dear Joe Gibbs,
I would like to point out that the ONLY reason the Skins were in the Giants game was because of Patrick Ramsey! You guys want to talk about how he gave the game away?! How about Portis fumbling the balll away? Or what about the Touchdown pass Mark Brunell threw to a Defensive Linemen? We don't talk about those. How about the fact that Ramsey completed the longest pass of the season in the time he was in that game. The only reason it even was a game was because Patrick Ramsey threw them back into the game. Why did he have to throw so much or force so many balls? Because he inherited a 13 point deficit. A deficit Brunell probably wouldn't have made any closer had he stayed in the game. Ramsey did things in that game that I haven't seen from Mark Brunell all season long. They can call out Ramsey all they want to. They can say that they would rather have consistency to Ramsey all they want. All I know is, I'm not buying their brand. If they want to have a quarterback who puts up bad rushing numbers, at least as far as yards are concerned I don't really want to watch them that much.
They suck right now. 378 yards! Mark Brunell has throw for 378 more yards than Clinton Portis has run for! That's absolutely disgusting. 249! That's how many more yards Mark Brunell has thrown for than Brian Griese has in half as many games!! Brian Griese is no elite quarterback! Peyton Manning has throw for 1108 yards in the last 3 games! Daunte Culpepper had a 3 game stretch where he threw for 1181 yards! He's had as many 300 yard passing games as, now benched, Bard Johnson! Are you starting to get it yet? They're going nowhere fast! If they can't throw the ball or stretch a defense they're not going to win games! This D isn't the Ravens D of 2000...hell, Mark Brunell isn't even Trent Dilfer. The Skins have got to go to Ramsey! If they don't they'll just be losing and giving up on the season for no reason at all. I'm sick of saying this all the time. I'm sick of watching him play. It is horrendous. I know we are supposed to be run oriented, but for the last weeks we've looked more like a punt oriented football team! Disgruntled as all hell... Justin Lea |

Yep, get in that practice with your second rate offensive line, your slow wide recivers and your 4th team running back, and do somthing against the #1 defense in the league. I mean, common, w/ the scout team???? I hate that argument so much. They arent even giving him a chance, if he plays like absolute chicken-bleep with the first team, I'll at least listen to the argument. This is rediculous. I dont care if I'm the second string QB, the second stringer, no matter how good/bad he is, is one play away from being a starter and needs the snaps. Period.

jdlea made the points i'd like to make
![]() I actually saw the interview (forget if it was monday night live or george's shows...), he was asked "what does patrick need to do to start games right now?" or something fairly close... bugel basically said, that he has to do something special beyond just outplaying brunell (has to be definitive, even though he gets no reps etc), and without being asked he interrupted the interviewer (who thought he was done) and volunteered than brunell was playing awful. |
