Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Week 3)
Not much to say this week, but here goes
Devin Thomas: You're only three games into your NFL career. You haven't earned the right to get away with push-offs. I liked what I saw overall from you though. Once you play smarter, I expect big numbers from you. Fred Smoot: Where's the fire you played with at the end of last year? I don't think you're as talented as either Springs or Rogers but you always played as tough as them. I'm not seeing it this year. SmootSmack: You decide not to start Larry Fitzgerald in your $$ fantasy league, sticking to your tradition of never starting a player who is playing the Redskins and it costs you the win, a 3-0 start and sole posession of first place. Was it really worth it?

HEYER - Your first pancake block of the season comes with a 15 yard penalty and cost us a TD. Now, do it while you are really in the play.

SS I'd like to add something to the list. Consistency. I want to see our offense be consistent. After the first drive of the game there was a period where we didn't do much offensively, up until the third quarter. If we expect to compete against Dallas we need to have a great game offensively and be consistent.

Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Week 3)
Offensive Line: This group has a lot of work to do if we're going to be competitive against Dallas, Philly etc. Protection has been good overall, but run-blocking is terrible - CP has every right to bitch and moan IMHO. I see way too many defenders in the backfield before and during the hand-off. Don't know how else to say it: if the o-line doesn't step up it will be the unit holding us back for the rest of the season.
Smoot: Does anyone know definitively whether he is playing hurt? Like SS said Fred has always played very aggressive which made up for his comparatively average skills - I don't see the aggressiveness so far this year and he is increasingly the weak link in the secondary. M. Washington: Don't get me wrong I am a huge Marcus fan, and maybe I had too high of expectations based on reports of his perfect health and legendary enthusiasm coming into the regular season. He is not making big plays right now and we're going to need the playmaker Marcus to stop the run against Dallas. Doughty: I never expected him to be a consistent playmaker - just thought he would always play smart and more than anything play tough as nails, punish any RB who got beyond the front 7 and put the smack on a receiver across the middle. Instead... no punishment and a blown coverage yesterday that got him benched. Horton might deserve the start @ SS.

Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Week 3)
Danny Smith: Great special teams coach, but he needs to get more out of this unit- kicks, punts, coverage and returns.
Casey Rabach: Your center is the quaterback of the offensive line. While he stepped it up a little against Arizona, we need more consistency from him. Fed Ex: It gets loud at times, but we need to redifine home field advantage here, especially when we play division opponents. |

Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Week 3)
I might get flamed for these, but oh well.
Zorn: The Brooks tongue lashing during the last few minutes of the game was well... lame. You've had several meltdowns on the sideline already and my fear is that you allow your emotions to get the best of you. I appreciate the passion, but you are responsible for setting the tone. Learn to pick your moments. Besides, no one thought Swishy would make it anyway. He loves to shank it left. The fans and the media: Every ounce of praise heaped on Zorn shouldn't automatically be followed with a criticism of Gibbs. It's getting old already. |

Smoot's automatic 8-10 yard cushion. Seriously. WTF?
