Re: Cowboys Wk 4
Man the key to winning this game is stopping jason witten.. Man he's been killing defenses on 3rd down... and he always starts off blocking then releses into the open with out being covered.. If we stop t.o. with shawn springs and some safetie help.. We got to figure out a way to rattle tony romo... by sending blitzs from different angles.... man I pumped for this game I think we can beat dallas.. There not that good to me.. And when we get pressure on tony romo.. We have to get him down we can be letting him escape then were going to get beat in are man coverage... and we got to get clinton portis going this week even tho he had a decent week last week.. I just wait lol

What you are talking about is exactly what the Packers did on defense and they got beat. You send those LB's in on a blitz from different angles, then the middle of the field is open and Witten will have a feast. And that is the magic of having a WR like Owens, he demands so much attention from the defense it opens up other opportunities for other players on offense by drawing the coverage away from them. This is why I have always said that T.O. does not need 7 catches and 100+ yards to be a factor in the game. Just his presence on the field is enough. |

And as far as Owens, you have to punish him. Whether he makes the catch or not, hit him hard just like Sean Taylor always did. He doesn't like that and it definitely affects his game. I think Witten is the key. He will be a tough matchup for us. We can stop Barber with LB help, but that lets Witten free up and he will kill us. If our offense can keep the ball for some long drives and keep the defense fresh we have a shot, but we have to play a perfect game. |

If the Redskins are able to sustain long offensive drives throughout the game, it accomplished two things. 1. Most importantly, it keeps the Dallas offense off the field and limits thier number of possesions. 2. It will keep the Dallas defense on the field and they will get tired around the middle of the 3rd quarter and Portis and Betts can take over. |

Between 2004 and 2006, Owens racked up a mere 18 receptions for 165 yards and 2 TDs. That's an average of 4 receptions for 41 yards (10 yards per catch) and 1/2 a TD per game. In TO's first game against the Sean Taylor-less Redskins, he racked up 8 receptions for 173 yards and 4 TDs. In other words, in one game, TO managed to rack up more receiving yards and touchdowns against the Redskins than he had in the previous 3 years. |
