Not sure why you have Buffalo so high when they really haven't played anyone, vs. the Skins who have played a much tougher schedule. |

davy has a list but his list is a crazy list. The #1 and #3 teams lost to unranked teams 4 teams have had a bye (which I guess makes them better cuz they didnt lose) 1 team is 2-2 (but better than several 3-1 teams )AND the Redskins aren't on it... anyone think maybe davy just wanted to provoke? Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
Denver was your #1 last week. You said they had a complete team from top to bottom. Now you have the Titans as the "clear cut" best team? No question they have a lights out defense, but Kerry Collins is thier QB for christsake. You can't expect this guy to be playing well in November and December. How can you give an AFC team the top ranking?

Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
I found somebody else who doesn't have us in the top ten...
1. N.Y. GIANTS (3-0, previous rank: 2) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 1-0 (+9.0 PPG) Last week: It had to be a good week off for everyone in blue (with the possible exception of Plaxico Burress). They got some much-needed rest and had the added pleasure of watching both Dallas and Philly lose. Cold, Hard Football Facts: The Giants are just the fifth defending Super Bowl champion to start 3-0 the following season. Week 5 matchup: vs. Seattle. This game features two members of the rotating cast of NFC Super Bowl participants: seven different teams in seven years. 2. TENNESSEE (4-0, previous rank: 3) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 0-0 Last week: DTs Tony Brown and Albert Haynesworth chalked up two sacks apiece in a 30-17 win over Minnesota. Cold, Hard Football Facts: So, why are the Titans winning? They attack the ball like it’s filled with $100 bills. They rank first in forced fumbles (8) and interceptions (8), and are second in Defensive Passer Rating (52.5). Week 5 matchup: at Baltimore. The “Steve McNair Bowl” figures to be a low-scoring affair; in their 17 career meetings, the winning team has topped 27 points only twice. 3. DALLAS (3-1, previous rank: 1) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 0-1 (-2.0 PPG) Last week: Oops! Jerry Jones’s talk of a 16-0 season went poof in a 26-24 home loss to Washington; Dallas allowed 381 yards of net offense and didn’t force a single turnover against the Amazin’ Zorns. Cold, Hard Football Facts: Coach Wade Phillips needs to work on his end-of-first-quarter pep talks; of the 89 points the Cowboys have allowed, 51 of them have come in the second quarter. Week 5 matchup: vs. Cincinnati. It seems impossible, given the gap in success between the franchises, but the Cowboys have a mere 5-4 lead in the all-time series. 4. BUFFALO (4-0, previous rank: 8) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 0-0 Last week: The Bills outscored hapless St. Louis 25-0 in the second half and won 31-14, despite allowing 167 yards rushing. Cold, Hard Football Facts: Buffalo’s secondary seems to be the biggest difference between last year’s average team and this year’s juggernaut. The Bills are limiting opposing QBs to a passer rating of 64.3, down from 81.1 in 2007. Week 5 matchup: at Arizona. How do you know it’s still early? This game is a battle of division leaders. 5. PITTSBURGH (3-1, previous rank: 7) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 1-0 (+3.0 PPG) Last week: Even without anchor DT Casey Hampton in the lineup, the Steelers held Baltimore to 3.5 yards per offensive play in a 23-20 OT win. Cold, Hard Football Facts: Willie Parker averages 4.0 YPA; his backups have rushed a combined 38 times for 95 yards (2.5 YPA). Week 5 matchup: at Jacksonville. The loss of G Kendall Simmons for the year leaves the Steelers without their two longtime starting guards from a year ago (Alan Faneca went to the Jets in free agency). 6. TAMPA BAY (3-1, previous rank: 11) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 0-0 Last week: The Buccaneers held Green Bay to 181 yards of net offense and forced four turnovers in a 30-21 home victory. Cold, Hard Football Facts: RB Earnest Graham likes that Tampa sun; all five of his career 100-yard games have come at home, including both of his 100-yard efforts this year. Week 5 matchup: at Denver. It’s a showdown between two geniuses: Mike Shanahan and his offense vs. Monte Kiffin and his defense. 7. PHILADELPHIA (2-2, previous rank: 4) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 1-1 (+3.5 PPG) Last week: The Eagles were +84 in yards and +2 in turnovers, but lost in Chicago, 24-20. Cold, Hard Football Facts: The Eagles boast the best yardage differential in the league through four games, rolling up 1,459 yards to their opponents’ 982 (+477). Week 5 matchup: vs. Washington. There haven’t been many blowouts in the 74-year history of this rivalry; a 45-0 win for the Eagles in 1948 stands as the most one-sided victory. 8. CAROLINA (3-1, previous rank: 10) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 0-0 Last week: The veteran Panthers put those whippersnappers from Atlanta in their place, 24-9. Cold, Hard Football Facts: The standings say 3-1 … but the stats say .500. The Panthers defense ranks 9th in scoring and 13th in yards, while the offense is 17th in scoring and 19th in yards. Week 5 matchup: vs. Kansas City. It could possibly be the least heated rivalry in the NFL. 9. DENVER (3-1, previous rank: 5) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 0-0 Last week: The Broncos Bandwagon let off passengers left and right, thanks to a 33-19 loss at Kansas City. Cold, Hard Football Facts: The 2007 Lions set a record, allowing opponents to complete 70.1 percent of their passes. The 2008 Broncos allow a 72.6 completion percentage. Week 5 matchup: vs. Tampa Bay. The seventh all-time meeting between these teams should be commemorated with throwback jerseys: Orange Crush vs. Light Orange Gentleness! 10. SAN DIEGO (2-2, previous rank: 12) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 0-2 (-1.5 PPG) Last week: The Chargers needed 25 fourth-quarter points to beat the Raiders 28-18 in Oakland. Cold, Hard Football Facts: Fans worried about LaDainian Tomlinson’s slow start (77 carries, 296 yards, 3.8 YPA) should remember that he had almost identical numbers through four games last year (77 carries, 282 yards, 3.7 YPA). Week 5 matchup: at Miami. The last time the Chargers beat the Dolphins, Boyz II Men had the No. 1 song in the nation (“On Bended Knee,” Jan. 5, 1995). Miami has won six straight meetings since, and the Boyz have fully transitioned II Men. 11. WASHINGTON (3-1, previous rank: 18) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 1-1 (-3.5 PPG) Last week: The Redskins pulled the upset of the week, beating the mighty Cowboys 26-24 in Dallas. Cold, Hard Football Facts: The Redskins have committed just one turnover in four games; after giving the ball away six times in Week 12 of 2007, they have only committed six turnovers in nine regular season games (seven wins). Week 5 matchup: at Philadelphia. It’s the 147th Eagles-Redskins battle, dating all the way back to 1934. Yet these heated rivals have met just once in the playoffs (a Washington victory in 1990). Cold, Hard Football Facts.com: Power Rankings: More divisive than Congress

So yes, out of what is out there, the Titans are the clear cut #1. If Denver can ever get their D situated, they might make it back up there, but the way KC ran on them, I don't see it happening anymore. An AFC will get the top ranking cause they have the ONLY 4-0 teams. If Buffalo played a tougher schedule, they'd be 1-2. I am failing to see why people are so upset about Tenn at #1. The complaint about Philadelphia not being in the top 10 is a VERY valid one. It was tough for me not to put them in there, but these injuries have hurt them in my eyes. When they are healthy again, they will sky rocket. With Westbrook out, and McNabb hurting, no, they are not a top 10 team. With them healthy, they absolutely are.
