Re: THIS is the best you have felt about the Skins since?

With the way the team finished the regular season last year, I was feeling pretty good about their chances of making a deep playoff run.

As far as feeling this good about the team this early in the season, I'd have to go back to '99.

Re: THIS is the best you have felt about the Skins since?

i havent felt this kind of optimism since the ole' ball coach came in and lite it up during the preseason, we all the know the rest of the story thoo.

Zorn is what I had hoped for in spurrier but without all the hype and hoopla. I have always felt we have had a solid D group so I guess having a coach who brings the possibility of revamping our offense excites me. i havent checked but im pretty sure after that spurriers first pre-season here people had very high expectations for the offense to become a point scorer to compliment our always solid D. itd be interesting to see what threads were started back in preseason compared to threads about 8 games into the season.

go skins!!

Re: THIS is the best you have felt about the Skins since?

I agree with hess. However, even though there is still alot of football to be played I haven't felt this way since '91. Even in '91, at the age of 13 going on 14 I didn't really understand what was going on but I just knew they would win every game. I know they were better than everyone else but I didn't know why I felt like that. Now at the age of 31, with a better understanding of the game it scares me to feel this way. I've spouted off at the mouth with "we'll do this and that" but I REALLY feel like they can win against any team in the league right now but I'm trying to keep a level head about this. I don't get too caught up in the rankings and all because all I know is that EVERYONE picked the Skins to be last in the division. They were called the doormats of the East. I want the analysts to keep on putting the next opponent on a pedastal only for the Skins to knock them down. I hope they can be there when it's all said and done with The Danny holdin up the Lom.... sorry.

Philly is up next week. It's only week 5 but it feels like 1991 all over again.

Hail To The Redskins !!!

The Return of the Gibbs.

I'm somewhere in between euphoric and cautious. I'm thrilled with how the team is playing and there is every indication they will continue to play well. However, it's week 5, we got killed in week 1, and it's a long season.

Agreed. That Dallas win on Sunday was huuuuuuge.

I can still remember my Mom waking me up and telling me JG was returning. We ran around the house screaming and waking everyone up. It was that big of a deal.

This is big, but its early, and us Redskins fans are now accustomed to emotional roller coaster. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point.

I hugged a stranger in an internet cafe halfway around the world when Gibbs came back... I'm not there yet.

As for the 1991 comparisons, we aren't there either. That team was every bit as dominant as any team I have ever seen. They didn't allow a point for their first three home games and hung 40 something on the Lions (playoff team) on opening day. You could argue they only lost one game at full strength - and even that loss was marked by trick plays, lucky breaks, and just strange calls.

So, I am excited - but keeping 3-1 in perspective is important too. Ask me when we finish 18-1!

Thumbs up Re: THIS is the best you have felt about the Skins since?

Personally for me it's been a long while since I've been this comfortable with my skinz. 91' was the last time i can truly remember feeling like we can move the ball. philly this week is huge for us . If we are so fortunate to get a win this sunday it will have a big impact on the rest of our season . The big difference that I've seen is this, when joe came back in 04' we had a good to great defense and we struggled to move the ball effectively . this year we have a good to great defense and we seem to be able to move the ball more easily. We average 9 different receivers per game if we can keep this kind of production up i cannot see us going anywhere but up and forward... we still have a lot of football to play lets keep positive HiP, Hip, Hooray!!!

The thing that makes me fell good about the Redskins thus far is play calling, and execution. If a team has good play calling, but can't execute, they will not go anywhere. That is something that excites me, and makes me feel very good about this season. Having said that, its only week 5.

Re: THIS is the best you have felt about the Skins since?

To be honest I am not extremely excited yet. Now if we beat Philly, then I am ready to say I am pleased. As of now the only really "upset" in my mind was beating Dallas. If we can beat two powerhouses, on the road, two weeks in a row then I am ready to start feeling great about us.

The second coming of Joe Gibbs. I just felt like FINALLY we have a chance and we're headed in the right direction. I feel that way now too.

I'm thrilled with Zorn and am convinced he is the right coach for us. I'm also convinced we have a darn good team, a great future at QB, and am extremely excited. That said, this division is still ridiculously brutal. I need to see us get to 6-2 by the midpoint to feel really really good about the prospects this season.

Luckily we face the Rams, Lions and Browns after we play the Eagles.

Very hopeful, but the fear of a let-down is ever-present.

Same here, let's see how we do against the Eagles. Also I am worried about the Rams too. It's way too easy to sleep on them.

This is the best I have felt sense last year when we started 3 and 1. Things change to fast in the NFL to get to pumped this early in the season.
