Jansen was very solid today
I know that Portis got a lot of yards to the left behind Samuels and Sellers, but Jansen seemed very solid in run blocking today
unfortunately I haven't been able to review his pass blocking and I know that we let guys through way too much, so can anybody tell me about that that was focused on line play? |

Re: Jansen was very solid today
I agree...the ability to run out the game last 2 weeks against Dallas and Philly truly state his value to this team

Re: Jansen was very solid today
Thank you for posting this thread. As for those who claim that Jansen is washed up and our OL is old and over the hill, think again. The reason this team is 4-1 is due to our OL solid play and of course Campbell, but everything begins in the trenches. We are healthy on the OL and what a difference it makes. We won today despite having Shawn Springs, Stephon Heyer, Jason Taylor and Marcus Washington. That shows the depth of this team and our rookie receivers are slowly starting to contribute, the sky's the limit for this team. Keep it up and stay hungry!!
GO SKINS!!!

hopefully heyer can become that long term guy, but I don't think at this point you can truly say that heyer has a great advantage vs jansen |

Re: Jansen was very solid today
As posted earlier. JJ has played two really solid games against two key divisional foes. Looking more like the ROCK of past, here the last two weeks, nice to see!

Re: Jansen was very solid today
Jansen's strength is run blocking, so I can see how the playcalling went that way today. A few runs to the right side kept Philly guessing all day.

Re: Jansen was very solid today
I have to admit I always thought it was funny that the team was starting Heyer at RT, even if it was Buges making the decision.

Re: Jansen was very solid today
I've been tough on Jansen. His play has been great these last two weeks. He's been mauling people in run blocking, and hasn't been a liability in pass protection. It's nice to have an extra tackle on the bench with game experience -- be that Heyer or Jansen.

Re: Jansen was very solid today
The whole offensive line was solid. I loved that 4th and 2 play to Portis up the middle with 2 minutes and 40 some seconds remaining in the game. Somebody said it was something that Parcells would have called.

Re: Jansen was very solid today
Jansen has stepped up big the last 2 weeks. We ran the ball with authority today, against one of the top run Ds. Having the option of running to both sides is huge.
Nice to see it, plus the silver lining is that we've got excellent depth there. Kneeling out in Dallas and Philly! Wow. Way to go skins!!!

Re: Jansen was very solid today
I don't think it's a coincidence that the running game has been so strong since #76 got back in there.

Heyer's injury could be a blessed just like Reed's illness was with Horton.

Re: Jansen was very solid today
I just wish Jansen would break the habit he has had the last 2 to 3 years of showing up to training camp stiff as a board. As well as he is playing now, it is great and he has earned his spot in the starting lineup back.
But Jansen is a pro and is paid an awful lot of money, he needs to show up ready to play. Nobody should get a free pass at their starters job. The coaches did the right thing in his situation. I think it set a good tone for everyone, especailly the young players on the team that nobody is untouchable. You all have to earn your spot. Kudos to the new coaching staff. |

Re: Jansen was very solid today
When Heyer went down I was fairly happy knowing that Jansen was waiting back there ( I do like Heyer but he made some mistakes in the Giants game , I know he is going to be good soon ). I had a feeling Jansen was going to come in and perform. Jansen had to be hungry, ready to come in and win his job back.
Congrats Jon keep it up! You have done a wonderful job at trying to reclaim your starting spot. Good luck and keep fighting every week!!

Re: Jansen was very solid today
Jansen had a good game. As a matter of fact, both lines won the battle of the trenches. I think the defense was caught off guard early in the initial drive and the bogus punt return, that should have come back because of a block in the back, gave the Eagles the momentum early. The Skins maintained their composure and worked their way back into the game. By halftime, they controlled both lines of scrimmage. An impressive victory. The way that Zorn is controlling the clock in the second half of games reminds me of a young Joe Gibbs.
