I'm well aware that our problems run much deeper than who holds the title of President. And yes it's convenient and satisfying to a degree to just blame it on Bush or the current party in office. I'm guilty as charged.

And we're all entitled to our opinion and method of doing things, but should this mentality masquerade as real political discourse?

I'm well aware this is a football forum and who knows whether anyone here takes this stuff seriously or not. I'm also well aware that the number of nasty arguments and vitriol that gets spewed here when it comes to political topics would seem to indicate that the general mood goes beyond just joking about politics. People appear to be genuinely pissed off which would indicate an emotion of some sort.

"The left" appears to be delighting in the abysmal failure of the last eight years and taking every opportunity to mock it. I fully support that right, however immature it may be. For the record, it was just as immature for "the right" to parrot on like a bunch of schoolyard kids toward the end of the Clinton administration.

There seems to be this "Well, you made fun of us first, so you reap what you sew" mentality going on. Sure, but you do realize it goes both ways, right? Let's say Obama gets elected in Nov and serves at least 4 years if not 8. Are you prepared have another helping of the same immature political rambling after your candidate has served his time?

The best anyone can come up with is "Well they did it too!" and "Well the administration is so bad how can I NOT call them names and argue by posting funny verbal flub videos?" Congratulations, you've managed to just lower yourself to the level of every other idiot out there.

Whether you're justified in the name-calling and petty arguing or not I don't see how anyone can deny that it just perpetuates the cycle of political and cultural ignorance.

It's not wonder this country is so gravely disturbed. Someone "be the bigger man" and actually tackle the problems and issues for what they are and participate in constructive discourse rather than calling names, posting a funny video and somehow feeling like you've "scored a point" when "the other guy" gets pissed off about it.
