Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs Rams)

Part of me wants to blame everyone. Another part says blame no one, because the game was just so weird. Every mistake for the past month came out in full force today.

But three things rally bothered me about today's game, apart from the obvious turnovers and poor line play

Santana Moss The number #1 receiver on the team can't be shut out three weeks in a row. He's got to step it up big time against Cleveland. The best find ways to get open and be part of the offense

Randle El Just stop this madness of ARE at punt returner. It's just too painful to watch anymore. Put Fabini back there for all I care

Durant Brooks He needs a scare. Bring someone in to challenge him this week.

Penalites: 7 penalties at home (or any week really) is not acceptable and reflects lack of focus.

Pass Rush: We've got to generate more pressure off the ends without blitzing.

And I agree that we absolutely have to find a new punt returner. Randle El is just awful back there.

Also, I agree that at the very least we need to bring in a few punters for workouts.

Brooks- competition: We tried to be nice as fans, but my pacience is done
ARE- Very frustrating seeing you dance and not go upfield for positive yards.
O Line- Hopefullly this was just a one game screw up
Torrence- How about keeping WR's in front of you on 3rd and 15 instead of fighting with coaches (karma's a B.....)

Zorn mentioned after the game he MAY bring another punter in. I've been complaining about ARE returning punts for 2 years now to whoever would listen. Before the season started we talked about how we need help on both lines. I think that still holds true. On a side note, the Pats are getting

Pete Kendall - You're an offensive lineman, not a running back. Next time that happens, just fall on the ball.

Jason Campbell - If you ever fumble again, just fall on the ball.

Cooley - WTF?

Defense - While you guys were great, you dropped two sure picks that would have made a difference.

Huh? Cooley had a solid game. He gets the tough yards-after-catch, which means he's going to cough up the football from time to time. His huge catch at the end of the 2nd quarter put us in position to go ahead going into the locker room.

On the radio broadcast Sonny said "I hope that randle el thinks that he's back in pittsburgh so he can actually return the ball"

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs Rams)

-I definitely agree Moss needs to be a bigger part of the game plan. 2 catches over the last 2 weeks? That's just not going to get it done. Especially against a very beat up Rams' secondary. Moss should have had a field day.

-Speaking of that depleted Rams' secondary I'm still surprised we weren't more aggressive in taking some shots down the field. At least try to draw some PI. I know the running game is really firing but I just thought the game plan in the 2nd half was a little too conservative. I hate to say it but Goose was right during the game, you can't let a team like that hang around all game long. Gotta go for the throat early and put them away.

This frustrated me the most. It was feeling very Gibbs-like at times even though it was working better. I thought the playcalling got a little predictable.

It almost seems like we went into the game with the mentality that we were not going to beat ourselves, but that is exactly what happend.

Kareem Moore. why the F did you straight up throw a shoulder in to randle el on the only gd punt return he's had that looked like it could turn into something???

whoever didnt blitz on the last big play for the rams.

jansen for proving me correct in his pedestrian pass protection

He also killed a drive with a drop on the first series of the game. I believe it was a 3rd and 4 play. It looked like if he had caught it, the play could have gone for 15 or 20 yards, because there wasn't a Ram defensive back within five yards of him.

Yeah that was a key drop, something that he and ARE both seem to be struggling with lately. They need to shore that up and start catching those balls that are hitting them in the hands. Drops like that are momentum killers.

What's with ARE spinning as soon as he catches the ball, but no one is anywhere near him? He did that on one of his returns this weekend and I couldn't understand why he would do that...
