Though it is possible to get a compensatory pick for Hall, that completely depend on the value of his future contract value AND his playing time....therefore, he'd pretty much have to start from here on out in order for us to expect any picks for him.

Other point, how can you possible state he is automatically better than Torrence?, Hall has been burned in far greater volume than Torrence. Granted, he was starting and wasnt playing nickle, but you cant automatically say he'll be better. Agreed, that he absolutely SHOULD play better, cause hes got excellent athletic ability.

Hall has not played well, but he's been playing in a terrible team. Now he's coming to a better team, with the opportunity to prove himself. We're not asking Hall to be the number 1 corner, just to add depth to our DB group. Torrence was an average player at best, whereas Hall is a very talented. Besides, my whole point was that this is another low risk acquisition by the Redskins, that could turn out to be a good situation for the team.

Shaun Alexander was low(no)-risk, but he's hurt the quality of our running game.

Even when the contract value is negligible, there is still an opportunity cost of having underachieving players on the roster.

i hardly ever second guess the front office. but i really dislike the signing of Alexander. it really serves no purpose

I figured to give the 2006 MVP a chance, but he hasn't showed up for us since his signing. Once Betts is healthy, or at the end of the season, I would hold on to Alexander and try to shop him around for maybe a 3rd/4th round pick. Or just cut him, either way. Portis/Betts/Cartwright is all that we need.

Shaun Alexander will be on the bench once Ladell Betts returns from his injury. Just like D. Hall will be on the bench behind Rogers, Springs, and Smoot if he doesn't work out.

Exactly. Its a bye week, so of course this is the only thing to get worked up about.

But as nervous as we all have been to see Torrence on the field in pressure situations, won't you be a little more comfortable with Hall in that same position? All the talk about how much the guy has been picked on this year overlooks one small thing, he was playing opposite the best shut down corner in football right now in Asomugha.

I think the most telling statement came from Arthur Blank when he said that Hall just needed to grow up. Well, getting cut from Oakland and having the opportunity to play for the team he grew up wanting to play for may be the spark he needed. He's 24, he's been on top of the world (2 Pro Bowls) and through adversity. He's probably our 2nd most athletic corner right now, with Springs physicality making him numero uno.

It'd be career suicide for D. Hall if he doesn't play well here. He has the chance to be a 3rd/4th string CB with the opportunity to play as much as a 2nd/3rd string CB (due to injuries). Whether he stays with the Redskins or goes somewhere else, he needs to prove himself on the field. I think Hall has been humbled by this situation, going from being worth picks and big $$ to being waived and having to play for almost the vet min.
