Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward

Lavar Arrington has never been a contender for "Mr. Congeniality" wherever he has been - - all the way back to his days at Penn State. His tenure here with the Skins included some bizarre statements and actions not the least of which was the grievance over his contract extension that neither he nor his agent seems to have bothered to read.

But even the blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

It always seemed to me that Joe Gibbs 2.0 was at least as much about the money going into the Joe Gibbs bank account as it was about winning football games in DC. So, maybe Arrington has a point there...

Nonetheless, this has nothing whatsoever to do with Joe Gibbs being a "coward". That assertion - and the one about how he might have flourished in Gregg Williams' defense - just make no sense at all.

But as to money being a huge motivation for Gibbs return to the sidelines ...

If that is the case then why did he leave 5 mil and a possible extension worth 20+ more millions on the table last year? It seems to me that someone in it for the money would not have turned down that kind of cash. Joe Gibbs turned down countless opportunities to return to coaching over the years and only came back when the Redskins asked him too.

Good point. He could have returned at any point during his 11 year layoff and there would have been countless teams waving blank checks in front of him.

Exactly...and he's friends with Arthur Blank of the Falcons and he tried to hire him for years. Joe Gibbs return to the Redskins had very little to do with money. I guess if you want to you could criticise Joe Gibbs 2.0 the coach...but Joe Gibbs character and integrity as a man could never be questioned.

Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward

^ No you know what's lame, Someone like me liking Lavar for some of the funny stuff he would say while with the team, thinking he would be a life long Skin like Green, for thinking he was a cool cat. Now every time he opens his mouth I'm not listening to what he says per say I'm waiting for the next Gibbs bash or Williams bash. No different then watching B-Bitch. It's a shame how I respected these guys for what they did on the field to only have them be disrespectful off the field.

I'm not saying all Skins media need to hire people who will suck up to the organization. It's nice to get another perspective on things but bashing the Skins or owner or Gibbs was not what I would have expected from former players who should be praising the Skins/owner for even allowing them the chance to play a game making millions of dollars instead of getting up every day at the crack of dawn like most of us busting our asses making pennies compared to them.

I've got an idea for Comcast....you want someone who will mix it up about the Skins? How about dumping tweedle dee and tweedle dumb and simply find people or other media personalities from the opposing team and have them go head to head with our commentators. Now that would be a show. Every week having the opposing teams big name media show up and talk about the game and players.

Im not puttin too much into this because writters hold quotes for a long time and put them out at the best time. This may have been said right after his NY departure or before that. The game was his life and to lose it so early its gotta hurt.

No, it's new article, fresh full of "look at poor me" quotes from LA.

ESPN - LaVar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a 'coward' for leaving

What a colossal waste of talent. He thinks he is so smart, but on the football field he was a complete moron. Horrible instincts and zero discipline.

Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward

Just read the article over at ESPN. Lavar sounds bitter, and lame. Talked about JG and money?? Seems like he could be a lot clearer if he gave back some of the millions he got.
And he said Dan Snyder was scared of him?? Does he mean physically? I can't see Snyder being scared of him saying stupid stuff. Geez, go to NY and open a restaurant there.

He did give back some of his money to get released from the Skins.

Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward

Let's see, he's had beefs with Snyder, Gibbs, and Williams. Anyone noticing a trend?

Perhaps the problem is Arrington himself.

Good to see Arrington still has that star mentality. It's all about him, everyone else is just out to screw him over. Funny thing is he still thinks the fans love him.
