Will we force Eli to beat us?

Sup everybody? I been thinking about this Sunday non-stop (probably not the only one) and keep feeling like it will come down to our strategy on defense. I know this sounds weird because it's the offense that has struggled; however, my intuition is our offense is going to play extremely tough football. Defensively, we're facing the best ground game in football. It forces Eli to beat us, which seems risky at first because he can be very good. But there's this: we've got an elite secondary now w/ Springs healthy and Hall progressing quickly. If we could get an early INT w/ aggressive man-to-man coverage Eli could fall apart as he did against Cleveland (the Giants only loss).

Again this is risky, but if we can effectively shut down NY's rushing attack and get a great game from Springs, Rogers, Hall, Landry and Horton I could see Eli begin to struggle early and the Giants unable to adjust.

Goat you are really grasping at straws here. Not saying our Skins can't come away with a win, but it will be due to Eli going back to rookie form and throwing a ton of INTs. It is highly doubtful our hapless lines will dominate the Gmen in the trenches. First, our O line is a bunch of once proud Pro Bowlers now seen as foggies running out of gas, as well as being somewhat injury prone. Did you see the Gmen D line vs Arizona? Those guys are hungry and relatively healthy!! Do you honestly think Jansen or Thomas are going to withstand that kind of onslaught for 4 whole quarters? Also, I think Pierce is going to have a nice reunion with Portis, as the Gmen pass rush eliminates our passing game. And on the other side of the ball............ I guess we won't go there since there is no scientific proof yet of the existence of a Redskin pass rush. All in all, I think we are going to get our collective asses handed to us. Not sure about the playoffs either, but hey, there is a bright side to next season!!!!! Norv is sure to get the boot and maybe Snyder can hire him as the OC in 09! That would be a blast!!!!!!!

Portis ran for 84 yards on 23 carries in the first meeting. Sure he's banged up but if you think he and the chums on the o-line will come out flat in this battle i guess you have very little respect for their character. There will be a nasty bruising battle for 4 qtrs of football and the G-men already have some injuries on defense.

Gotta have some fun in here Goat and mix things up other than just the usual mundane stuff. Our lines have been playing subpar to average most of the season so, why do you think I am on or off Prozac to be able to observe that? Gmen lines are dominant end of story!! The Gmen destroy their opponents while we squeak by the likes of the Sea Chickens and Lions, even if we statistically dominate. Don't even get me going on the Rams!!!!!! To win we have to have supreme efforts by both lines and I haven't seen that yet this season. Our O line has had some nice games for sure, but both lines having stellar games hasn't happened yet. Let's hope come tomorrow night that I am eating some major crow, but for now I think we will need much more than an emotional lift to beat the Gmen.

I truly don't think you can pin the loss today on the o-line (and definitely not on the d-line). Overall, our defense honored Sean today w/ a great game. Sure there was the typical poor coverage from Smoot and a missed tackle here and there, but our defense did a great job against a Giant offense that had the ball for basically the entire game.

Eli didn't beat us. The Giant offense didn't beat us. The Giant defense didn't beat us. The Washington Redskins offensive unit lost this game. And while the o-line had some struggles against the very best defensive front 7 in defensive football our entire receiving corp looked like transfers from NAIA college football against a mediocre Giant secondary. GT's review will have the details but I saw dropped passes from every receiver save Thomas. I saw the ball bounce of hands, chests, shoulder pads and face masks. And then an interception by Campbell because he held on way too long like he always has. I don't know what can realistically be done to mend this. Sloppy play on offense and especially among the receiving corp is what lost us the playoff game last year, and the sloppiness/inconsistency just continues under a different coach and different strategy. I would love to hear anyone's ideas on this, any kind of explanation at all.

I cant explain it to you,but i disagree with you,Eli beat us with his passing,plain and simple,when we stacked the box eli threw perfect passes to beat us,something jc has never been able to do

Well I agree JC has never been consistently accurate/effective. But my point is that most QBs will rack up nice yardage when they hold the ball all game long. We intercepted him and should have had 1 or 2 more than we did. Eli played an ok game, but I don't think we should downplay the fact that the Giants average 29.9 pts/game and our defense held them under the avg even though Eli had the ball all goddamn day. Seriously, our offensive unit gave us no chance whatsoever. Dropped passes left and right. No rush-blocking. JC holding the ball too long.

But one thing i'm relatively sure of - Zorn is not the problem on offense. If the execution was there... we'd be a competitive football team. Our execution is abysmal, as it's been under multiple coaching/scheme/strategy changes.
