I think that's more of a myth than reality. You would have to be doing a ton of cardio for it to have a negative effect on your ability to build muscle.

Definitely not true. If you focus on cardio instead of strength training with more weight, of course your muscles will be more toned than bulky. Cardio's main goal is fat burning and toning, not to gain strength and size.

It does no harm to mix cardio in with strength training and won't impede muscle gains. If anything, it will help burn off fat to make the muscle look better and help with stamina that can be useful when lifting.

Sure if you go all-cardio or all-lifting, the results WILL be different and I guess that's where the myth originates. Mixing the two together won't take anything away from your strength training results other than maybe the time you spent on cardio.

Heck, the Skins are doing Pilates this offseason! My wife had a laugh about that, but it will only benefit them in the long run.

Pilates, like yoga, is also great for flexibility. So in addition to building your core, it can be a preventive measure for injuries as well.

Not necessarily true. If you're doing lots of weights and have cardio incorporated, you just have to make sure you're eating accordingly. Lots and lots of lean protein, and it won't hinder your ability to build muscle at all. In fact, not only will you continue to build, you'll look more ripped a lot faster than with just weights alone.

Re: P90x

Yeah it's interesting to hear the team is doing pilates, seems that a lot of players are big fans too. It only makes sense that a stronger core would help with a sport like football.

I havent done a thing since getting back. I keep telling myself im going to do it today then someone wants to hang out...... Plus im trying to learn golf, kickball is in full swing, and Perry has a pretty sweet pool.

I would not suggest starting p90x in the summer time, theres just to much to do.

I finished the P90, now I'm on day 18 of the P90 Master Series. Figure I'll be starting the X in September.

Congrats man. I did 2 months and quite, but for the last month or so ive started doing some of the exercises i like the most about once a week, plus ive been working out at my friends home gym. I also ran in a 5 mile obstacle course race about a month ago, which is the most ive ever run before. This is a tremendous change from my previous lifestyle. I avoided any type of exercise at all cost, i would even avoid riding a jet ski because it would make me sore.

My plan is start back up and do the full 3 months once its full on winter and theres less to do outside.

Re: P90x

Good job sticking with it. Most people don't.

I have not started it yet. Will once I get over these stupid, nagging injuries.

(not homo) Have any before/after pictures? Blur your face if you want.
