R.I.P Coy Bacon

I have a 1971 MNF game I was watching the other nite,Skins vs Rams,George Allen returns to LA to face his old team,anyway,Coy Bacon was playing for the rams in that game.
According to that article bacon had 26 sacks in 76,would be an all time record,I didnt know that

According to ESPN.com, the NFL did not officially begin compiling statistics on sacks until 1982. Bacon unofficially recorded 26 sacks during the 1976 season, which would be considered an all-time record, and researchers credit Bacon with a career total of 130.
