At the same time, which one do you keep? We save no money by cutting Smoot, but he's freakin awful, and is a liability whenever he is on the field. And Springs is older, in decline, and very expensive, and we could save a lot of money by releasing him. Springs is still the ideal 3rd CB when healthy, but there's always the possibility that we could save money by releasing him and reinvest it at the position.

Either way, if Smoot is going to suck, and Springs is just going to be hurt, are we not better off with plan C at nickel?
