Betts and Portis pretty much have the same strengths and weaknesses, except, as you mentioned, they like Betts more as a receiver. Which is why as they moved away from max protection schemes to more wide open schemes, Betts got the third down calls.

I would say you pretty much have it right on, Betts is a lot like Portis except that he turns the corner incredibly slow.

2) You also said it would be nice to get a different styled runner than CP. Does that mean more toward a scat back or a bruiser like B. Jacobs?

3) Defensively, do you suppose Rocky Mac had a down year because he's still recovering or is he destined for an avg/short-lived career? With that could Blades play weak-side (or strong side for that matter if Marcus is gone)? Finally, i'm guessing you think we need to draft/sign LB talent no matter what right?

4) Can you tell why Evans regressed in the 2nd half of the year?

2) Either or. Just someone who would have their own section of the playbook separate from Portis' plays.

3) Can't say for sure, but I'm leaning towards the latter. Blades could absolutely handle WLB. Even with Blades and Fletcher, this is a spot that will need to be addressed in the offseason, especially since neither Blades nor Fletcher is a particularly great fit for what Blache wants to do.

4) Evans was never strong against the run, and I'm convinced his success as a pass rusher in the first half had more to do with favorable matchups (Cory Proctor, whoever the Steelers RT is) then actual talent. He's probably not as bad as his 2nd half numbers suggest, but even more likely not as good as his first half numbers.

The fact that he's a free agent means we might never get to find out.
