1. Cut all the enormous contracts on this team not performing. This has to be done with some timing though I don't think it should all be done on day one.

A. Shawn Springs
B. Marcus Washington
C. Cornelius Griffin
D. Reed Doughty
E. Phillip Daniels
F. Casey Rabach
G. Shawn Suisham
H. Jason Fabini
I. James Thrash
H. Let Golston and Kendall go

I'm bias, I hate Shawn Springs, He doesn't play because he's a woman not because he's injured. He get's paid the second highest salary on the team because Cerratto is dumb, not because he's good.

2. Resign our players.
A. Sign Denagelo Hall for the offer we gave him, it's very reasonable and 12m guranteed is all he deserves he won't get much more anywhere else and the offer is extremely reasonable he will get paid a lot if he performs.
B. Resign Montgomery and Alexander for cheap salaries. This should be pretty easy.
C. Resign Carlos Rogers for the same deal we gave Deangelo Hall. I completely don't understand the Hall or Rogers debate. Shawn Springs is the most chronically injured player on the team and does not have Roger's coverage skills or Hall's int playmaking ability. Rogers is a young up and coming CB and we could sign him before he breaks out and makes a big payday somehwere else next year in free agency.

Free Agency:
This is kinda speculative know one knows exactly how this will play out and subsequently this will affect the draft greatly but this is what I think is possible and makes a lot of sense for this team, unfortunately those are the type of decisions Cerrato hates so heres my first order of business.
1. Sign Buccaneers personel man Bruce Allen as our GM, a team with a great track record of drafting lineman and getting quality skill players when he takes them early.
2. Sign Stacy Andrews to take over at RT, he should be cheap coming off an injury and is a quality tackle. He can play at pro bowl levels, if he doesn't perform stephon heyer can take over and Jansen is a solid backup.
3. Sign Ritchie Incognito, Give us some depth at G, Whoever performs out of Icognito, Thomas and Rhinehart should start and we can add another G for cheap in FA or late in the draft.
4. Sign Jovan Haye or Rocky Bernard or both. This would be an upgrade and neither is gonna completely fix our dline woes but this would be a great quality value pickup.
5. Get a cheap backup center for a low price.
6. Sign Michael Boley, Leroy Hill, or Angelo Crowell. Crowder and Dansby are both the hotter players right now but they're teams succes is going to massively drive up their price tags and we do not need to be spending big money.
7. Sign a cheap veteran CB to give us some more depth after letting springs go.
8. Sign Kicker Shayne Graham.
7. Key message, fill holes without breaking bank on massive contracts especialy guys like Gross or Peppers or Haynesworth. We have a track record of making these guys not live up to the money we give them. This seems reasonable to me and with the cuts we would have made we should have some decent money to spend.

Draft:
1. Trade out of 13 pick to something in the 22 - 28 range. Try and get a third and sixth rounder in the process.
1. 1st round 26th pick - Peria Jerry DT.
2. 3rd round A - Eric Wood or Jonathon Luigs C.
3. 3rd Round B - Connor Barwin DE. If he's not there go G or DE.
4. 5th round A - Zach Fulton LB
5. 5th Round B - Pat White QB who probably won't be there but if he's not fill our roster out with needs on the oline and dline.

Give me your thoughts.
I agree with B, C, D,E G, and H. Can't cut Springs when you plan to deal Rogers. Bigger question for Springs is not attitude or anything like that, it is, will you get more than 9 games out of him. Resigning DeAngelo Hall should be top priority. Springs, Hall, Smoot, and a young FA or draft pick would be a good secondary.

IMO on the draft, all draft picks shoudl address OLine, DLine, and Linebacker.

I think we should take a look at Channing Crowder. Sure I'm biased towards Gators, but he's a good young player, durable, would fit our scheme, and probably wouldn't cost too much.

Doesn't he have a recurring knee problem and isn't he an inside linebacker? I think we need OLB beasts

You're right, he was an ILB for the Phins, but in a 3-4 scheme. He played OLB in a 4-3 at Florida. He had a knee surgery or two while playing for Florida, but he's played in 58 of 64 possible games as a pro.

The only way I would keep Springs is if he was a luxury and would sit on the bench until week 9 and actually play the rest of the season. Only cause he will only play about 8 games for you and find an injury somewhere if he has to actually work more then 8 games to earn his money. He's the first cut on my list. Resign Hall, resign Rogers and make him happy. He did his job. He's a younger Smoot. Speaking of Smoot I'd keep him as the Nickle unless one of the other CB we have can step up ie; Westbrook (don't know why he is still on the team).

I like the idea of going after OL,DL, and LB in the draft. However anyone we bring in on the OL will take time to again get up to NFL speed and learn the plays. I would probably go after a seasoned younger OT in FA who can step right in and just have to learn the plays in order to protect JC. Then go after a big DT in the draft at #13 to collapse the pockets for us. Pick up a LB in a later round and perhaps another OL.

I would bring in non drafted RB's, CB's, and WR's to try out in camp. Yes we have to get a young healthier RB to groom to replace Betts now and if good enough replace Portis later. Bring in more CB's (although I've heard it's slim pickins at that position) and try some out. I mentioned WR cause it would be nice if we could find a diamond in the rough to groom there also. Maybe someone around the 5-11 size like Moss to replace him later. Make Kelly and Thomas the #1 and #2 WR's and have Moss be our #3 to keep him healthy and fresh all season. Trade or cut ARE or at the least utilize him in the #3 or #4 position.

couldnt we get a decent LB in FA to hold it down until our next draft? i think our defense is pretty good and i think that blades is ready to hold down that spot. i think we use ALL our picks in the trenches.

for some reason i think we draft an LB with our first pick and then think we can get some good OL talent in the 3rd round. i REALLY REALLY think that taking OL in the first round is where we get the best value. our defense is going to be fine, its our offense that needs to come around.

Thrash is a must go. He is a holdover from the Norv days, once a great ST guy, but not a very good WR anymore. In hindsight, we should have never reacquired him from the Eagles. Jason Taylor is a waste of roster space. He had one stellar game at the end and a bunch of folks got visions of JT dancing in their heads. The guy is on the downward slope of his career. WE need a young guy that will be around for at least 4 years. Springs should be cut for sure. Guy can't put together 3 games without being hurt.

Agreed on all points Gus. Taylor just costs us so much and we should be able to get a value DE in FA. WRT Springs, I basically see Hall as his replacement on our roster... it bugs me the FO is sort of looking at Hall to replace Los. Lord knows i've been mad as hell at Los plenty of days for hoofing the pigskin when he should have caught it, but he is young talent on an otherwise aging team. He also learned how to catch in the last game of the season, right? LOL.

I say bring back Jerome Mathis. That's my entire plan for the offseason.

Alright here is what we do. Sign Gross and draft Mack at 13. This will instantly improve our line which in return
instantly improves Campbell which instantly improves our WR which instantly improves our running game. You see guys its all pretty simple and yes I am god.

Re: 2009 Skins Off Season Plans Ideas, Draft and FA plus cuts

Given JLCs blog entry yesterday, it seems the skins are planning to keep our defense in tact (for the most part) and focus on our offense. This makes a certain level of sense, since this is JCs contract year and we need to decide if he is our franchise QB or not - this year, we have to do as much as we can to help him out, so there will be no excuses for poor performance on his part in 2009. In JLCs article, it was indicated that the team needs 2 new starting guards, a new starting RT, an explosive running back to compliment Portis, and a real WR. Evidently, we will also likely be fairly inactive in free agency.

I also am chosing to beleive the rumors that we are interested in acquiring more draft picks, both by trading down in the draft and in trading players for draft picks (Rogers, Moss, Betts, and Monty have all allegedly been dangled). If all that is true, here is my revised proposal/prediction for our 2009 offseason:

Noteable Cuts
1. Jason Taylor
2.Shawn Springs
3. Marcus Washington
4. James Thrash

Trade
1. Rogers for a 2nd round pick (I dont like it, but i think its what the skins are trying to do),
2. Moss for a 3rd and 4th (its been rumored the skins want a 2nd but i dont think theyll get it).

Noteable Free Agent Signings
1. DeAngelo Hall
2. Channing Crowder - He's really an ILB, but its been reported Miami is low-balling him on an extension and he wants to test free agency. He's been playing ILB, but I think we move him outside to replace Washington. Ideally, we would sign Dansby, but he's going to be too expensive.
3. Phillip Buchannon - He's no longer an elite corner but an older guy familiar with our style of defense. We need someone to replace Rogers and he could start alongside Hall for the time being .
4.Amani Toomer- I think we actively pursue Devery Henderson but he is out of our price range. Toomer wants to stay in the division so he signs with the skins and is penciled in as a starter to replace Moss.
5. Pete Kendall

Draft
-Skins Trade down in the first round with somone in the 19-21 range and pick up a 2nd round pick. Remember, we have also acquired a 1 pick each in rounds 2, 3 and 4 by trading Moss and Rogers.

1 - Eben Britton, OT, AZ - (Britton becomes our starting RT. His stock has been rising and falling alot recently, but most mocks have him being available in this range. Another option is OT William Betty, UCONN.

2 - Herman Johnson, G, LSU Competes to replace either Kendall or Thomas immediately.

2 - Fili Moala, DE/DT, USC Moala can play inside and outside on the line. We pick him up for his versatility and hope he can work his way to a starting role in the future.

3 - Trevor Canfield, G, Cincy We drafted a dud with Rinehart last year. Hopefully we get it right this year.

3 - Jonathan Luigs, C, Arkansas Hopefully, Luigs can replace Rabach in 2010.

4, 5, 6 - I see us drafting atleast one LB here, and possibly a DB and/or RB.

Unfortunately our team has so little depth on our lines, you can literally pick any lineman or linebacker and have it be a great pick. Which sucks because it means Vinny will have an alright offseason no matter what but If you look at what this guys done over the past few years it's directly his fault this happened. For three straight years we didn't have more then one pick before the 4th round. And we never took lineman with that one pick.

And the whole Thomas Kelly Davis BPA thing is such bullshit, thats just Vinny being an absolutle dumbass because he has no idea how to pick lineman. Absolutley no idea. Then he picks up Chad Rhinehart in the 3rd round like thats going to solve the whole thing.
