Add to that the fact that we're trying to trade Rogers and Smoot sucks, it looks like Springs will be back for another year making an obscene amount of money for a guy who will likely play only half the games.

Unless we overspend on someone like Bly, its highly likely that we are going to have to use a top pick on a corner now. In any case, Smoot is going to be our #1 or #2 corner for the majority of next year... and we can push of helping the lines for yet another year.

Signing Hall early BEFORE the big money started getting thrown around was the #1 offseason priority for the skins and they blew it. Good job, Cerrato.

END RANT.

Well who knows whether Hall's people were waiting for this or not. I guess Hall haters are going to be thrilled if he walks away. Damn.

Everything is connected. Letting Hall walk or signing him to an over-inflated price will have a trickle down effect that will weaken our entire team. Smart teams extend their own young starters before the price gets too steep. The Redskins FO is full of idiots.

Dude, why don't you wait to rant until something actually happens? Like I said, we don't know if Hall's agent wanted to wait for this deal to come through. You do understand that players and agents tend to do this, right?

Can we just wait and see what happens with Hall before going batshit about it?

its a foregone conclusion now that he will either walk or we will overpay. every year salaries increase and new precedents are set that drives the price up for everywhere else. Hall is nowhere near the corner Aso is, but 15M/year and 26M garaunteed in the first two years is unheard of for a corner.

And to add there was never a contract offer made to Hall... JLC from the Post simply speculated what the offer would be.

Several days before JLC posted it, a reputable source on extremeskins said those were the numbers being discussed.

as to this talk being premature, possibly, but if we talk about it now, we're less likely to look for tall buldings and bridges to jump off of when it actually happens, haha.

Man, just let it go and wait until some type of concrete news on this matter comes up.

Ok whatever. We'll see.

I'll save my breath for when there is actually something to talk about.

Well if someone on ES said that it must be true. I take everything back, we're so screwed.

Makes sense to me, let him test the market a bit. Unlike some here who think that Oakland's big signing will set the market & give Hall more leverage, I don't think many teams will be willing to go very high for him.

With a potential capless year looming & financial uncertainty in general, not many teams will be looking to shell out big bucks for Hall IMO. All he needs is one team to do so, but if someone wants to guarantee over 13mil for him I hope they let him walk.

yeah thats kinda my thinking too. i dont see hall anywhere near the same class as aso. if he thinks he deserves top 10 cb money and wont accept anything less from us then let him test the market and get alil reality check.

go skins!!

13Mil garaunteed is a STEAL for someone like Hall. Heck, if Springs stays in 2009, he'll have made 15M in garaunteed money in 2 years. The cap continues to rise and people need to adjust their expectations of what is considered "normal" and what is considered "high" pay nowadays. 13M garaunteed is NOTHING for a starting cornerback, even one who is just "average"
