From a salary cap perspective this is rather interesting. In order to create the cap room to resign Pete Kendall and DeAngelo Hall AND be active in free agency, the Redskins WILL have to shed more players. If Jason Taylor is not to be among the cuts, I think it makes Marcus Washington's departure a certainty, and increases the chances Springs will be released as well.

Then again, Zorn is not in charge of player personnel and could be speaking out of turn. Or flat out throwing up a smokescreen. It will be interesting to see what Vinny does.

yeah, I thought so too. Maybe the word "active" is all relative here. To Zorn "active" might mean looking at all possible scenarios, making some contact w/agents, but not signing much. Around dc, "active" has come to mean signing several players to relatively big multi-year deals.

I agree w/your possible scenarios in terms of Zorn speaking out of turn. At worst, this could be one huge disconnect between he & vinny. At best, Zorn is strategically speaking to the media. He's never done that before & doesn't seem too adept at handling the pr/slant role of being a head coach, so I doubt that's what he's trying to do. Plus, it would make sense to do that if you want to drive up the price on free agents. If they really want to sign Hall, they certainly don't want to give the rest of the nfl the impression they'll set the market.
