At this point Hall has the right to test the market without feeling guilty. What bothers me is we benched Rogers to showcase Hall to the entire NFL and now have to fight financially to keep him.

If the Skins thought Hall would feel indebted to them because they "rescued him when nobody else wanted him". They were dead wrong.

If I were Hall, I would not have signed a contract before free agency. For Hall is a win-win situation. If he finds something better, he can go to another team. If not, he can come back to the Redskins. I know we're thinking of what's best for the team, but players also have to think about themselves. The teams are not going to care about a player if he gets injured, doesn't play anymore and doesn't see a dime of his salary (just the guaranteed money). Also,the teams are not going to care when they have to cut a player, it's just a financial decision. Why do we (including me) chastise a player for making a financial decision, yet we praise (sometimes) when a team makes the same thing?

That aside, I do feel the Redskins should have tried to sign Hall before free agency, but such is life.
