Re: Do You Think We'll Trade Down In The Draft?
I'm not sure that trading down is the right thing to do. If we had Jimmie Johnson or any other compitent front office type I would be all for it but last year the Redskins traded down and at the time it seemed like a good move but looking back isn't Sam Baker whom the Falcons selected with the pick they got from the Redskins just the type of player everyone is saying we need right now?

Re: Do You Think We'll Trade Down In The Draft?
If we trade down we'll be at 20 or 21 (very unlikely we trade w/ Eagles but u never know) and we could still get an immediate starter because guys are falling in projection. Rey Maluauga is an example as his combine was lousy and evidently he runs the 40 like a DT... he may well be there at 20 or 21. Andre Smith may fall that far and I'll take him in a heartbeat and put him at RT over Jansen/Heyer any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I think what's most important about trading down is that we get the second pick in the second round to have the best shot at coming out of this draft w/ two starters (hopefully RT and OLB). If it's necessary to package our first and last pick to get 1st and 2nd rounders i'm ok w/ that actually as we have 4 picks either way but a 2nd rounder is much more ready to make an impact than a 7th(?) rounder.
... I think Maluauga at 20, the best RT available to us for the 2nd round pick and a guy like Sidbury in the 3rd would be a best case scenario...

Re: Do You Think We'll Trade Down In The Draft?
I like the oracles prophecy, we must have an OT and I keep hearing Duke Robinson's name on this board, but have yet to see it crack any of scout inc's top 32. Am I blind or just stupid that I haven't heard much about him/seen him play??????? Anyone hear that the Skins are trying to unload Horton for a high pick, interesting!

Re: Do You Think We'll Trade Down In The Draft?
If we do trade down for extra picks, I wouldn't mind picking up Kory Sheets in the middle rounds somewhere. He could be the change-of-pace we want to compliment CP, and he's a return guy. Plus everyday it's looking more and more like we're gonna make a few serious FA moves along the O and D lines, which could allow us to spend a mid-round pick on RB. From Yahoo: The Good: Kory Sheets, Purdue. In a relatively slow running-back group, Sheets still ran in the 4.4 range and caught the ball very well during position drills. He now looks like the draft’s top third-down back who has added value as a return man.

GTripp!
Trade Rumors only - Hog Heaven Chris Horton Just speculating on this one. Have not heard anything about him being in trade talks, but knowing how the Redskins want to approach this draft, and where they want LaRon Landry to play next year, I would not be surprised at all if they tried to get a 2nd rounder for Horton, and then resign Mike Green at the league minimum.

I suppose we'd bring Doughty back and let him fight it out with Kareem Moore? Mike Green can't cover himself with blanket.

![]() Oh man, too funny. I'd hate to get rid of Horton, however I think it'd be a choice between Horton and Landry, and well we know who we would keep if such scenario were to occur. I agree with you GMScud, turning a 7th rounder into a 2nd round pick would be great.

I would hate to see Horton go. I think he is a good young talent who is not afraid to hit the hell out of someone. However this is the Redskins and they tend to do things that do not make sense. I love the Skins but sometimes I reallyw wonder what Vinny and Danny Boy are smoking. |

Re: Do You Think We'll Trade Down In The Draft?
I think I've changed my mind about trading down. I was against it, but now I think I'm for it. I just don't see anybody who we couldn't do without being available at #13. Also, the are 6-7 good OT's and 6-7 good DE's and SLB's in this draft, so we could drop down into the 20's and pick up a valuable 2nd rounder.
By trading down, there's a chance that we could pick up an OT, a DE, and a SLB in Rounds 1-3. That would be very sweet, indeed! |
