Re: Jason Taylor Released

I'll be honest as soon as I heard we cut Taylor I thought big signing is coming. I'll bet they try for Housh only cause that would give us a #1 WR to compliment our #2 Moss and #3 Randel El. That would allow Kelly and Thomas to learn from one of the best and fill in, in the rotation. I wouldn't mind Bolden but He's not a UFA. Which means we would probably have to give up a lot to get him.

I know, I know I'll get blasted for my thoughts but I came to my senses and thought like most of you....either go after a big Center or RT, DE, and LB. I forgot about a punter though.

With 12.5mill I could see them trying to see about a push for Housh, and go after either a Center or RT. Then pick up the other in the draft and a DE, LB. I mean with Springs 6 mill we saved plus the 1 or 3 mill we had under the CAP we went after AH, Hall, and Dock. 12.5mill could truly land us possibly Housh, a big named RT and a half decent Center or DE (perhaps Evans, just offer 1 more mill to the plate.).

I know I'll get blasted cause everyone wants OL, DL, and LB. but I could see Snyder and Cerratto calling Housh's agent to see what the numbers are, bring him in just to piss off Philli, and allow him to tear Philli apart during the games cause they snubbed him after he even showed interest in them. LOL.

Edited....found out Housh is a Seahawk. He should have held out one more day. lol.

Re: Jason Taylor Released

I don't know why everyone is talking about going after Housh (who is no longer available) and Boldin. What the hell did we draft Thomas and Kelly for?

But I think with $12.5 million in cap room, we should go after Willis, Evans, and draft a decent LB in the draft at 13 and somemore linemen (preferably OL) with our other picks just like everyone else has been saying. But knowing Vinny and Danny, they can find a way to mess something up.

Re: Jason Taylor Released

I would love it if we resigned Springs and Taylor late to the same cap value we just cleared by cutting Taylor...and if I'm really greedy...OT and LB depth and a punter thrown in just for fun.

Regarding the idea of re-signing Taylor later for less...
What do you guys think he's worth on the open market?....4 mil/yr?

Re: Jason Taylor Released

I hope this isn't redundant but Comcast reported that it didn't have to do w/ his salary. The FO wanted him to sign an addendum about offseason workouts w/ the team...being in DC 75 percent of the time. He refused to sign it so he was cut. Very odd.

Why didn't this come out last year? Why didn't they bring it up then?

We sent a 2nd round pick for a 1 year rental. Very nice move VC. He's really turned over a new leaf by building thru the draft for one year.

I was for the trade btw...only if JT played a full two years. He was going to be healthy again and he's a HOF player w/ immense talent. He had some major injuries to deal w/ last year and still sucked it up. Nice one Vinny. Way to waste another high round draft pick.

I was for the trade and I was looking forward to having JT one more year healthy. Like the Haynesworth trade, it bugged me that he was taking 8.5 mil of cap space with so many other needs. Bottom line, the Redskins are getting rid of old players and getting younger players. Granted they are expensive, but they are young. Baby step people, baby steps.

Re: Jason Taylor Released

The only question I would have about Maualuga is, are we sure he can play outside? Chicago put Urlacher on the outside when they drafted him and he sucked at that position. He didn't come into his own until he was put in the middle. I think Rey is a hell of a linebacker, I'm just not sure about putting him out of position, and if he can't play outside, how long before he replaces Fletch? Maybe someone knows more about this?

Re: Jason Taylor Released

I think we need to adddress the linebacker situation. I can't see H.B Blades holding that starting position down. Maybe we should take a look at Cato June and try to sign him to a reasonable contract.

Re: Jason Taylor Released

thank god for this, now we can pick up another OL in FA, and we can draft a LB in the draft. win win, he was a prima donna anyways, and we are better off.

Did anyone see the cooley interview? he basically said I don't like it here.

Great. The day is getting better and better. Cooley is probably pissed because the lazy rookie (now second year player) has more talent than him.
