I wonder if Evans was upset with Washington. From my understanding both teams had similar offers on the table for 2yrs and around $4M. Evans said he wanted to be back with the Skins and wanted a chance to start. So Jason Taylor gets released, therefore as soon as Evans signs a new deal with us, it's his job to lose.

So if we assume the Skins were offering him ~$2M/yr (almost 2.5x what he made last year), and he had his chance to start, why would he relocate 3000 miles to play for a worse defense?

maybe he was guaranteed to start there?

anyways thought that he was going to decide friday, maybe it was by friday

either way, some people made this guy out to be an awesome player, he's replaceable, just up to us to do it

I have no idea what San Fran promised him. It's clear that with Taylor's departure, Evans could have easily been the guy over Rob Jackson, Chris Wilson, and Daniels if he came back. I don't think Evans is awesome, but definitely serviceable if not solid. Given the hole we have at LDE, i figured 2 years $4M was pretty reasonable. Now we have no choice but to either draft or sign a DE, whether we like it or not.
